Engine Start Stop

Post by Brooner » Fri Dec 06, 2013 3:19 pm

Can you permanently disable the start stop feature using Vag Com as my wife is getting the a new car with the feature as a standard and according to the dealer cannot be disabled other than using the button inside but this is reset when the journey is finished.

Thanks

Apparently you can't, sorry - might be some fuse you could pull but that's getting technical.

Why would you want to disable it? I had it on my A4, worked well and was quite pleasant at lights, relaxing even, lol.

Just a pain as I always think the engine has stalled plus the extra wear and tear on the starter motor going on and off all the time and if turning a t a junction would be a pian with the 21" wheels the savings in fuel and emissions would be very small

you can do it with VCDS you need to do the following

19 - CAN Gateway
Adaptation - 10
From drop down menu select (1) select start stop minimum temperature
in new value box put 50 instead of -50
Click do it and add to log

From drop down menu again select (2) select Start Stop maximum temperature
in new value box put 50 instead of -50
click do it and add to log

Voltage method

19 - CAN Gateway
Adaptation - 10
from menu select start stop voltage limit
new value enter 12 as default stored is 7.6v maximum of 12.1v
Click do it and add to log

you could have Acc/Start Auth. Control module fitted to your car (address 05, HW:5Q0-959-435)
This controller has only one adaptation channel whose sole function is disabling Stop/Start. The adaptation channel descriptor is Deactivation of start-stop function and default setting is not active. Change this to active

Hope this helps
