If you get the HEX-COM+CAN or HEX-USB+CAN lead that will work with ALL Audis, VWs, Skodas & SEATs.

I know it seems expensive, but when you've saved 2 or 3 trips to the dealer (and you will) it's paid for itself.

and remember you can scan and log your car (and many others) anytime you like. in my experience Audi don't scan your car for DTC's at service

The s/w isn't free Paul ;-) As I guess you know, but for the benefit on the OP, the "expensive" lead actually acts as a dongle to take the free, but limited functionality, software you can download to fully functional wonderness :-)

Perhaps a bit of a naive question but when downloading release 908.2 and it comes to the USB driver installation by Dell Latitude with XP comes up with an untested software may FCUK your system message. Has anyone had issues with the USB driver for VAG-COM affecting normal function of their laptops? I see Rosstech have a disclaimer regarding these things and this is a work machine so I'd rather it didn't go wrong?

The untested software warning is just microsoft trying to drum up business for its own software certification program, just another way of them trying to fleece people.

If you have any concerns then set a system restore point (see backup/restore under control panel) before doing the install, if you have problems you can just restore the system back to before the drivers were installed.
