Setting dial / needle illumination B5 RS4

On the TT it's possible to set either needle or dial (or both) to illuminate regardless of the lights being on or off using VAG-COM.

Does anyone know if this is also possible on the B5?

I don't think so, there was a thread about this a little while ago. But if you find it can be done PLEASE let us know

we might need to do a little rewiring to get this to work - im about to look at it and will post if i get it done

I also don't see the point of the dash lighting up even in the day time. I also find it better if the dash is dark so it is easier to see when you've forgoten to put the lights on a night...
