Guys,
B7 RS4 - followed Ross Tech advice here http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/x ... nment.html for adjusting levelling headlights.
[Select]
[55 - Xenon Range] (For some newer vehicles, use [29 - Left Light] instead )
[Basic Settings - 04]
Group 001
[Go!]
Wait at least 20 seconds for the headlamp motors to move. The headlamps are now in their adjustment position. Turn on headlights. Adjust them via their manual adjusting screws as referenced against a suitable aiming target.
Scroll up to Group 002. The Xenon Range controller has now learned this position as its Home position.
Click the [Done, Go Back] button and you're all set.
Finished the procedure (well, I think I did) and now I have a levelling warning light on the dash. After I had manually adjusted the lights, I wasn't able to 'scroll' up to 002 as he says to do, it wasn't highlighted so I typed it in then clicked [Done, Go Back]. Now the lights don't move when they are turned on like they use to and I have a yellow headlight levelling caption on the DIS. If I run a fault it says that the lights are not levelled properly, now Ross Tech says that unless you finish the procedure in full you will get this caption. Now when i re-run the procedure it won't go passed the Group 001 [Go!] point, it just says 'Wait'. Do I need to clear the DTCs before I re-run this procedure? I know this will clear all my DTCs but is this a snag if I don't have any other fault codes? I have retro-fitted an RNS-E so I get codes for this but, if I reset all the DTCs, I'd still get these codes on a full rescan wouldn't I?
I'm new to VCDS, does it show - thanks for your help. (How do I actually know if headlight levelling is working anyway?)

Re: Headlight Levelling
Iirc you can reset codes on a controller by controller basis
Re: Headlight Levelling
Thanks ads - so I reset the individual controller (55) and the fault came back up straight away so I knew it wasn't intermittent. But then I ran the procedure again but this time I used the ON/OFF/NEXT box to the top right of the page to cycle through the sequence and it seems to have cured it (Ross Tech says to 'cycle UP to 002' but it was greyed out so I was unable). Now, I read on the Ross Tech site that this was for A6 lights and so I guess maybe I've got lights that are coded for an A6 - or at least VCDS thinks that. Either way it seems to have cured it - the DIS leveling warning has extinguished and the lights seem to level themselves. I guess VCDS just saved me an Audi visit (and Pentraeth Audi is not somewhere you want to go to). Hope this helps someone in the future.
