Hi,
I had the ECU warning lamp illuminate on my B7 RS4 two months back.
Car ran fine, but ran VCDS which indicated a Cyl 4 misfire. Dealer confirmed that a coil pack intermittency was likely, so replaced under warranty.
Car just been to have DRC fixed (yet again) and dealer reported same error (Cyl 4) and has replaced the 'new' pack with another new one.
And before anyone asks, the error WAS cleared when Audi mobile tech changed coil pack - i watched him do it and run a 100% clear 5051 log.
I can't believe two dud in 2 months on same cylinder (and in neither case was any misfire evident).
Any thoughts on what else could cause this?
Below is my error log - I obviously don't have the dealer's from today but i assume report is same.

RE: Coil pack - twice in 2 months?
Is there a problem with the spark plug which is allowing the coilpack to overheat and fail?
Gone: 2006 B7 RS4 Avant (Phantom Black)
RE: Coil pack - twice in 2 months?
I suppose an excessive gap could overload the coilpack?
Given i probably average twice the 'average' driver's rpm, then i'm putting in twice the wear...
Which has prompted me to start another thread...
