Post by SLC Detailing » Thu Jan 31, 2008 11:56 pm

I am thinking of getting a used cheap laptop just for use with vagcom so i can run boost logs and check for codes etc. Does the laptop have to have any requirements to run vag com? Also doe sit need a decent proccessor etc to run it efficiently? I wont be using it for anything else just vag com

Excerpt from GENDAN's site:-

The minimum system requirements for the VAG-COM software are:

Desktop, laptop or notebook PC

Pentium (or equivalent) processor running at 500MHz (or higher)
64MB RAM

Windows 98SE, 2000, ME, XP or Vista (32-bit)

Approx. 10MB of hard disk space
USB port

Yes, I've been running VAG-COM on a Dell Inspiron 510m with Vista Home Premium since February last year with no problems at all.

Running mine on the cheapest laptop they had in Comet, Acer Aspire 3680.

Runs fine under Vista, only thing I had to do was shell out 60 quid for another 512k of memory when I upgraded to Home Premium but it didn't affect Vag-Com only running original 512k.

Don't rule out ordering from Ross-Tech direct - the dollar rate makes it cheaper, and the delivery is a couple of days...

Not trying to do anyone out of business, just saying that when I ordered mine (9 months ago?) it was the best option

I got my lead from Ross-Tech direct too - fast delivery, very helpful, clear paperwork.
