Activating Cruise Control ?

Post by Carps » Sat Jan 06, 2007 7:41 pm

Anyone done this ? I see you can get the parts from VAG-Parts for around £50, so is then the only thing required the simple activation of the function on the ECU using VAG-COM as per the instructions...
Activating Cruise Control on a new ECU (DBW):

Factory fresh ECU's often come with cruise control de-activated.

[Select]
[01 - Engine]
[Login - 11]
Enter 11463 to activate cruise control
[Do It!]
Any info much appreciated

Cheers
Andy

You also need to recode the SCSM (Steering Column Switch Module) to tell it that there is now a cruise control switch fitted. My 2004 S4 needed a new SCSM because since I didn't have either cruise of multifunction steering wheel the factory had fitted a "reduced function" version of the SCSM.

Carps - is this on B6 cars? I have installed cruise on my 2004 S4, I enabled it on the steering wheel module and using the advanced measuring blocks could see it activating things as I pressed button (VAG-com recognising set and resume etc) but when driving the car, it does not operate.

Had a similar problem when activating cruise control on an A4 cab recently.

When you change the coding of the SCSM the cruise control has to be in the off position - otherwise the coding appears to be accepted but when you check the fault codes the engine ECU says it is not receiving the cruise messages from the SCSM.

Took us three tries to find the right combination of switch positions to get the codes to "stick" and work.

So I should disable the cruise module. Put cruise off and then re-enable it?

I enabled cruise before I had fitted it to make sure the SCSM was able to handle it, then I connected cruise.
