How to read error codes?

Post by karamazov » Sun Apr 30, 2006 5:13 pm

Hi from Russia!

First I've got a problem with idling of cold start. It was unstable for a minute or so. Today it became worse, the engine even stalled a few times. And today the Ceck Engine indicator turned on.

How do I read the error codes?

Have a great day!

Thanx in advance,
Pavel

здравствулте! мой друг .....

Welcome to the site. Unless youve got a friendly audi dealer in Moscow who can tell you ,you might have to fork out for a Vag com cable from Rosstech in good ole US of A.
There are cheap cables available from china/usa on ebay and with these you can download a freeware version of Vag com from Ross tech. This will help you determine whats up and you can go from there.

Whats the weather like up there in moscow- it always seems to be snowing on TV.

If you are serious about working on your car on any other Audi/VW/Seat both now and in the future, I'd recommend buying the genuine VAGCOM Ross Tech cable. Its not that expensive. Some replica cables give problems but MORE IMPORTANTLY, you will be able to get first class diagnostic support and advice from Ross Tech both via their own website and an excellent yahoo forum which you can search for loads of information.

PS Welcome to the site. :thumb:

Given your mention of the 1min it sounds like it could be related to the cold start recycling pump or ancilory hoses. This sits at the back of the engine, slightly off centre, to the right when looking into the engine bay. It should sound like a quite hair dryer for approx 1min upon cold start. I have some photos of it which I'll down load to gallery if I haven't already.

Thanx for the hint. Anyway I've put the car for diagnostics to the Audi dealer here in Moscow. We'll see what they say.

Rgds,
Pavel
