RE: VAG-COM Faults - your help needed
Dunno, but I would not reset the code, it is there to protect the car. Best advice is to get it looked at, dealer or specialist.
RE: VAG-COM Faults - your help needed
It is booked in for the 21st.
The fault has been present for sometime, although on Saturday it lit the EMS warning indicator....
Took to dealer and the 'helpful' girl on Service Desk said "Your car is already booked in in a couple of weeks, so as it not misfiring....ignore it"!!!!!
I insisted a Tech looked at it, and they cleared the code and gave it me back
Hence I am here....
Can't believe she said ignore it! What if the engine gave way under load/speed and I had a major crash?
I asked her 'can I have that in writing', which is when she got really shirty!

I guess they wouldn't have given me the car back if they have looked at it and given it me back.
Just a bit peeved at the attitude of the young lady, never mind, we all have bad days.

Go have a word with her boss I'd say, you are their customer and have warranty.
Perhaps what they have done is all well and good, but you are entitled to a satisfactory explanation.

the evap emission control is the unit which vents the tank and charges the engine on cold start, it is friendly to the environment!
advice is: Check the vacuum hose going to the EVAP valve and make sure Ur fuel tank is sealed closed.
Both codes I believe are related, second code suggests pressure in the secondary air system has not reached min required.
Has car been a little slow to start on cold mornings with slightly more audible hiss / ring pitch on very cold start.
I think readiness code indicates all fine, any Audi tech should be able to speak this language- mine is an attempt. hope it is of some use and sense. G
I thought u went to Chester? They know their stuff, eh!

Spot on, exactly that behaviour.flashyg wrote:

PS: To be fair to Chester it was a Saturday and they were v. busy (I've calmed down a bit). My usual contact there is excellent, but was on holiday.

Thanks, Dave. Don't worry, service has been great. Everyone has bad days so I've put this down to an isolated issue
I am feeling better now the above diagnosis has been made. Isn't it funny, when your car's not right you feel down, like someone in the family is not well!
Sad really

And no I don't think its sad -- when you have a car, any car but expecially when it's something special - you want and should expect it to be 100% , and if it isnt it grates a bit every time you get in the car.
At the end of the day dealerships are there to put things right, and if we aren't doing thingd right that just makes it worse!
