So here she is people, NU03NUT rides again...

Post by Nudenut » Fri Dec 09, 2011 7:07 pm

Well its no secret I've hankered after one of these for over a year, I absolutely loved my C6, in my view the C6 RS6 is a classic, the last of the big block turbo powered mile munchers, so easily tuneable and so blooming' fast in a straight line... mind-blowing!! But...

I've developed a taste for track driving, the C6, as fast as it was (9min 20s round the ring, 4 up on only my 4th lap ever and I'd easy get it round in the 8mins now!) but followed Dave IR8V8 round Combe at ADI and compounded what I kinda knew... the R8 is a special car on track, and thankfully I now know it's a dream to drive on the road day to day too!

Now before you say OMG Nige you didn't seriously buy an R8 to track, no I didn't really, however my car is a weekend wonder and I couldn't justify having the C6 and a track toy so I bit the bullet while I'm still young

So, selling cars is a royal pain in the arris I now know, I saw and test drove this car I bought 3 weeks before I sold the C6... yes that's three weeks climbing the walls hoping it didn't get sold but I hope you'll agree I picked the right one. I didn't want another black car, as hot as the R8 looks in black I fancied a change and I'm so very pleased I went with this one!

IBIS White R8 V10 Coupe R-Tronic:

Carbon Side Blades / Carbon Inlays / Carbon Engine Bay Trim / Carbon Door Sills / Extended Leather Pack 3 / Alcantara Head Lining / Parking System Advanced / Cruise / Homelink / High Beam assist / Milltek Racing Exhaust - on top of the Std spec to which I've added Carbon Mirror Housings and have Black Exhaust Tips and GT rear lights sitting here waiting to go on. The Mov'it Ceramics are going on soon and a trip to MRC planned.

Pics... loads, I make no excuse as the R8 is one sexy looking car in my opinion...

When I tested one last year I admit I hated the box... however I drove a manual at Silverstone and just didn't feel comfortable with it as I'm definitely used to the paddle shift from the C6.... BUT... sincerely loving the R-Tronic now, ok its no PDK/GTR/S-Tronic but once you get used to how and when it likes to change you can really make it work for you.

Very nice Nigel, cant wait to have a mooch around it when we next meet.

Do you have any tuning planned for the engine?

Agree, they are a hoot on track.

That looks stunning, I was never a fan of the R8 but have now been converted, what power does the V10 come with out of the box Nigel?

Ok dude that will last about err 5 minutes lol

I know what you mean though about tracking the RS6, Iv put parts of my car back to stock, as on the look out for a dedicated track car. Hopefully should have one by the new year.

It looks utterly fab Nige.

I remember watching a C6 RS6 review on Top Gear Australia and the lap time it put out was astonishing, it was up there with the supercars and that was standard, I cannot imagine what the R8 would be like then.

Ive not driven a r-tronic but have driven lots of SMG BMWs (I had a M6 for a week - see the car porn thread) and whilst I loved the box when I was in the mood it was a little tiresome when just driving around
