Does anyone have any information on the R-Tronic gearbox in the R8? I have to spec my car for Australia, and I am still not sure which is the better option.

No one has driven the car yet but I believe the gearbox is derived from the 'e-gear' box in the Gallardo. I would do a search on the web for the relative merits of this gearbox and the manual box in that car.

from this month's Top Gear mag article, it looks like the R-tronic is great on track but really jerky and annoying around town/when you aren't full on it. which seems a little odd since in the next breath they say its a manual automatic.....

Drove the R-Tronic and it is STILL under develpoment. Quattro Guys will perform a new software for the retail version. It is a great thing, especially "Manual Sport" :)

Friend of mine has just returned from the Staff driving experience at Stutgartt, where both versions were available. "Seems the R is fine once you get above 20 mph, but jerky below that....." I believe the software has now been modified and is to get further fine tuning........ and all comes with nice Lambo/Audi badge on the gearbox....lol
