4 months ownership thoughts and photos

Just crossed the 4 month mark and despite this being a bit of a ‘tumbleweed’ section of the forum here are my thoughts:
I came from a very different car-E63s AMG estate which was pretty lairy and bombastic. The R8 was an itch to scratch and so far I’m deeply impressed. Completely different car and drive and a new high point for me. Noise, pace, handling and everyday driveability +++
And something else that’s very strange- the amount of positive attention the car gets. I’ve owned and driven many performance cars and some of those have generated what I’d call ‘jealous attention’ ranging from abuse to vandalism (my M5 was keyed and I had paint flicked from a builders van onto my Z4M). Haven’t quite figured out why but with the R8 I get people wanting to talk about it, have photos with it (have their kids pose with it), give thumbs up and similar while I’m driving and smiles all round. Maybe it’s because it’s seen as not too showy and ostentatious (as opposed to say, a Lambo). The colour helps as well I think and it really does look stunning. Changing a few bits really has helped make it ‘pop’.
So this by far my ‘best car’ to date. A truly special bit of kit.
Some pics…..so here is the car from before I picked it up:

So I wasn’t happy with all the silver and lack of side V10 badging. So Fratelli replaced with black ones. The side blades in silver were a complete puzzlement also-why wouldn’t you go for carbon? So that’s been sorted by a carbon wrap which looks almost genuine.

The wheels were all curbed so needed fixing. Massive Brucie Bonus was Fratelli (awesome dealer) were going to fix them anyway and so I got them powder coated anthracite for free. Proper result.
How it looks now?

Just a brilliant brilliant car that not only puts a big smile on my face it seems to do with everyone else so it’s a win/win all round.
