Audi R8 2012 unable to access CAR mode

Hi everyone
I presume this is a software issue but my service spanner came on the other day even though the garage had done the servicing prior to me buying the car, I’ve had it reset now by my local specialist but when I press the car button on the head unit it only displays ‘version’ and then the next page just has 3 lines of text, I cannot access any of the functions, I’ve been told I can download the updated software online onto an SD card, is this correct?
