So you've had eight R8's and eight B7's? Nutter! Haha, look forward to a drive.

V8
naturally aspirated
8,250 RPM
Mid Engine
Open Gated Manual Gearbox

no not a Ferrari, but if it was with all the above, it would be twice the price !

Thoughts on the comparison with the v10? Better 'balanced' or just more dialled back and easier to access or approach the limits on public roads?

You might want to rephrase that buddy, we here are all very responsible and safety conscious drivers. "Approaching the limit" is only for the track and should not go together in the same sentence with "public roads" Image

my first R8 was a V8 5 years ago, so its not new to me

V10 is the daddy ... but V8 suits me at the moment as it will get very little use due to new born baby duties, but i think a low mileage V8 manual R8 at low £40's represents a safe place to put some cash for a while and enjoy the odd Sunday 6am blast

the whole V8 "lighter, better balanced" stuff is rubbish. V10 is the daddy

but, yes, you can use more % of the V8 performance on the road more of the time vs. the V10
