Hi Chaps,

I want a R8 V8, can anyone please spend a minute giving me the lowdown on what spec/colours issues are best/ best avoided. Also I have an imposed budget of circa £40k so if there are any good bargains available then please do share details. Also how important is an Audi warranty for these cars?

Thanks guys for your advice

You want a V8?

You need a V10.

Nothing wrong with a V8, fantastic car! Ignore the 'V10 only brigade' :bash:

Thanks guys,

Yes, id be happy with either. I don't particularly thrash my cars, so on the limit thrills of driving are not what this will be about for me. My missus likes the car, so I need to get her one.

If anyone has something suitable, then I would really prefer an enthusiast owned car so get in touch.

Cheers

What do you think ?

Did it belong to anyone on here ? If so then I hope it is a good one. Please do share anything you might know about it and its past.

Cheers

Wow. They don't waste any time taking it off sale. Its a 2008 blue with cream leather R tronic, apparently the last owner was a dentist. The plate starts with the letters TOM 10. The mileage is 29k. The plan is to collect towards the end of next week.

Cheers

The journey to collect will surely be one then done with "gritted teeth"....... il get my coat...... :bash:

The R8 V8's are now at a very keen price point, let us know how you get on as I'm tempted to replace the B7 RS4 with one in the future.

I asked the Mercedes incape dealer that i am buying the car from to check the car for how many launches have been done or any stored over-revs etc. I am coming from a 997 so thought I would see if these things could be checked for on a R8. The sales lady came back by email and said that she had spoken to their Audi dealership, and apparently this car does not have a launch control feature :? .

The car is an r-tronic march 08 reg car. Is she correct about no launch feature? Not sure myself hence this Q to you more knowledgeable guys. Please help me out here.

That's correct. R-Tronic is the manual gearbox with an actuator on the single clutch. If you've not tried one, it might be wise to do so. Not everyone gets along with it.

Thank you fella for confirming that for me.

Is there any similar R8 specific question I should be asking the dealer which may give me some insight into how hard a life the car may have had?

PS apologies for all the noob questions here.
