I could possibly be changing to a 650S if it will rock my world so lets see. I do love how McLaren do things which IMO way ahead of the game... yes it's very clinical to some but how can a car be too good especially for a supercar?. I do however get what you guys are saying about driver's feel, evolvement etc etc but ATEOTD, it's a road car foremost and a absolute nutcase of a car when you want it to be. Look at a Porker 991 turbos S... that's also a very well civilised car on the road.

Given the choice, I would buy a 458 Speciale all day long but sadly they have gone through the roof with crazy overs.

Yes, I know what you mean about Lambo, but I'd still take it over the Mac and the R8. Especially once you hear one against the R8!
I think the Huracan looks superb to my own eyes, but I appreciate it's not everyone taste
As for the noise though, the engine and all the fuel maps etc are identical in the V10 Plus R8, so I expect a good aftermarket exhaust could have the R8 sounding just like a Lambo very easily.
I appreciate it doesn't have the history, or perceived image of the lambo, but at 65% of it's price and all the same performance and spec but with a slightly less ostentatious suit, it makes the Italian look a tad overpriced

you are accusing of McLaren being too clinical yet considering an Audi ????? have you not seen the styling of the R8? or heard the muted tone of the V10 exhaust?

AND, the 570S has been SPECIFICALLY designed to inject emotion and fun into the car, and all the journo's agree that it has been achieved

so really don't get the comments here

though i guess it is an Audi board after all

That exactly sums it up :)
It's like specifically designing a women to be beautiful by including all the tangible niceties, but it not looking right due to intangibles mashing together

Ron Dennis says it's exciting, so it must be exciting !

I'd take everything you read from journos for a pinch of salt too. Journos raved about the c63, yet I found it awful. Journos largely didn't like the b8 RS4, yet I like it ?
Remember, these are the same journos that drove the 570s car in the summer, and had their videos and pre-print drafts read and approved by mclaren during the embargo. The same journos who know printing a Mag or publishing a YouTube video with any new McLaren on the front guarantees sales, and if they weren't invited back to the next one, would play second fiddle to the rest
I don't remember there being such a mass embargo at the launch of the 12c, as I expect mclaren expected everyone to love it, but in reality, it was widely criticised

In saying that, I'm sure the 570s is a damn fine car, but there's something I can't put my finger on that I just don't like about it (asides the styling, which I genuinely don't like)

I personally don't really like the back end of the 570S and think they've tried a bit too hard to make it look like a baby P1 but without the braking rear spoiler which kind of looks odd as though something is missing. I've not been to the 570S launch so only can comment from the online photos and videos. I'll wait to see it in the flesh to make my final judgement but no doubt it's a stonker of a car.

I'm not sure Mac are ahead of the game, the F1 story would indicate far from it!!

I see your point but we are talking about road cars and what's available currently for the same kind of money.

Possibly, although I cannot see many 570s being sold for anything close to 140k. And we're yet to see what 991.2 Turbo brings, that's going to be a lot of car for 140k.

I wouldn't go for a 570S personally and yes the 991 gen 2 should be interesting. There's always the P-14 from McLaren in a years time or so :)

Agreed, I said before why wouldn't you look at used 650S.

My general concern with Mac is that they are throwing all these models out, but last time I looked their profits weren't too healthy and the F1 team isn't awash with folk wanting to Sponsor it.

Are they trying too hard?

If I was going to go for a 570S, I'd be looking to wait a while for a couple of reasons ;
1) when they released the 12c, it had loads of issues with rushed development
2) in a year or so's time, they'll release a spider version, which will be just as good due to the carbon tub, and make the resale value of the coupe plummet as everyone wants a convertible - much like the 650s

Why does everyone want a convertible?! I very much don't want a vert.

I agree, but if was a folding hard top with no structural loss over the coupe and you knew it would increase value at resale....

I do dislike Mclaren throwing too many new cars out into the market( one per year so they've planned) making old ones kind of cheap... Take the 650S for example, they have already announced the replacement for next year making currently 650S owners want to move theirs. I've read that in the states, up to 100k USD discount can be had for a new 650S and dealers are even willing to swap seats and wheels etc etc just to make the deal happen. Now, that sounds bloody desperate to me.

ATEOTD, the 650S, 12C and the 570s are great cars just need McLaren to sort out there ways in promoting cars and not to kill their own market scaring off customers that could loose so much in depreciation.
