I was in Cannes last week at the Advertising Lions festival and they had one outside the Palais, I think in Daytona its look good (see pic)
Not sure about the light grey or blue.
I quite like the fact it isn't a 991 Turbo or as shouty as a Mclaren.

It's growing on me, but I guess I'll wait to get a drive before I make my mind up
A journo friend is getting a drive of one in a couple of weeks, so I'll get a fair impression then
I'd go poverty spec - As much as I'd love a fully spec'd Plus, I couldn't justify the extra
With discounts, comes in just under 120

Discounts on a brand new R8?! Audi dealers have lost the plot and swallowed the volume drug

Similar timing. Told mid sept for demo cars to be available
A journo friend is driving one next week, so I'll feed back what he says

Great, let us know what he thinks.
It does look better in the flesh than the pictures.

Will be interesting to see how it drives compared to a 540c and 911TTS, apart from the looks I have a feeling the Huracan will begin to look pretty expensive against it.

This is priced in 650 territory. Hurracan looks and sounds better.

Vs the competitors the R8 is a tad boring.

I'd take 991TTS over this and that's before the imminent facelift.

I can't buy a new 650s for £125k, maybe a 911 TTS at a push, but there are 3 new ones parked within 400 meters of the house.

I like the fact its understated, means it doesn't stand out, each to their own though will reserve judgement till i've driven one.

Agree the Hurracan probably sounds better and looks sharper, but its a lot more money and i think at that price there are other things to consider.

I'd agree with that. 650s is still mega money and the looks don't float my boat particularly, although I am aware they're blistering fast
My next-door neighbour has a new 991 Targa S, so don't fancy a Turbo, and as ridiculously fast as they are, they don't have a V10 soundtrack
The only porsche that really looks like a good comparison is a 991GT3, which I'm aware is an amazing car, but they're still 140k+ and I'd perhaps begrudge lining someone else's pocket with the current market value over the original RRP. Plus, I expect they may fall dramatically once 991 GT3 RS deliveries start later this year

The 540/570 does look great, but waiting lists will put them into early 2017 if you're lucky, and again, they don't float my boat like a big, raw 4wd V10 does.

Also, I like the Audi brand, the fairly low key image of the R8 and I can quite easily tell the wife a new R8 costs £60k and she won't question it - I can't see the same working for a McLaren or a 911 turbo, and i'd be moving into it once she kicks me out the front door ! :)

Hurracan's do look and sound amazing, but they're still around £200k, which puts it a long way out of my reach. A neighbour has one and it rattles my house when he comes past - Maybe one day

It's the brand that concerns me, Audi have lost the plot and I've no idea how they'll service the client base. They don't offer Porsche or McLaren service yet are asking similar money.

^ +1

you spend £120 - £140k and you get the Audi dealer network ! NO way JOSE

ask nudenut how he is getting on with McLaren retailers ... ANOTHER level. Collect and return car on covered flatbed.

Audi dealer won't give a stuff whether its your £140k R8 or £9k A1 that gets washed with sandpaper
