Looking for v10 spyder
Really tempted by a R8 Spyder...as a weekend toy.
I run a b8 RS4 as a daily (my second) so feel I would need a V10 otherwise step up in performance would not be enough, equally a S-tronic ....
So any must have options ?
Is the going rate £90k ? (Early used s tronic)
Not bothered by colour (although white would be my last choice)
Any good ones up for sale, spotted a grey one on PH as private sale, emailed the seller but no reply yet...

Suspicion that the grey one on PH is an ex "hire" car....
So search back on

Re: Looking for v10 spyder
I'll hijack your thread, if you don't mind!
I'm starting to look into an R8 V10 as well. Probable purchase winter-15/spring-16.
I've so far read that I should check the suspension for leaks (front shocks especially), tyre wear and service history/warranty.
Anything else I should be looking in specific at?
I read that spyder adds ~30Kg - I can live with that and it is desired from my side. Are there any negatives besides weight?

I always thought the weight difference was nearer 100kg ?Ungjaevel wrote:I'll hijack your thread, if you don't mind!

Have a word with DK on here if you can as he's had quite a few of both over the years, so is very well placed to compare

LOL
The spyder adds 200KG !!
LOL 30kg !
They are epic cars, but you loose some of the outright pace of the V10 in the spyder due to 200kg. but the chassis still feels just as composed without much scuttle shake to speak off
The noise roof down and Capristo is to die for
All early V10's have stopped depreciating now. I sold a 2010/10 Spyder last Jan for £62k ... can't find one now for £66k now

Hola!
OK - had to consult THE MIGHTY ORACLE.... (wikipedia).
V8 is 1560 Kg, V10 is 1620 Kg and V10 Spyder is 1720 Kg..
So yeah that's a considerable weight difference... f*ck.
Would really like some feedback from DK if he's owned several and can compare....!

Too much power is barely enough.

Re: Looking for v10 spyder
I doubt that you would be disappointed with a Spyder. Iv had a few R8's. I can tell the difference between a coupe and Spyder, however that very small compromise pails into insignificance for the roof down noise.
Don't mess about, just do it! Either buy a car now, or at the end of this year. Don't buy in the summer, you will pay a big premium.

Re: Looking for v10 spyder
Depending on life situation and future outlook it is a 50/50 chance I will buy one this autumn/winter/spring or next year.
Gathering all the info needed now to make a good purchase... thanks for the feedback!
