Porsche 997 Turbo S or V10 R8

Post by S14 » Mon Oct 27, 2014 11:35 pm

Hi all quick bit of advice if I may. I realise I'm asking in an Audi forum so responses will/may be biased , but for the pure car lovers out there I'm undecided between these 2.

An Audi R8 V10 Manual. Must have buckets/ ceramics. £60 k ish

A porsche 997 Turbo S PDK. White with Aerokit and has ceramics anyway. £70k ish

I think both are doing very well in terms of slow depreciation and are a good buy. Il be using it as a weekend car as have an BMW F10 M5 as my daily.

Any thoughts/ comments appreciated.

Not sure you'll find a 997 for that money either, at least not a decent one. Have you checked it over, OPC car or ?

Seen a few at 74-75k. A bit of negotiation should see me bettering that by a bit. Same with the R8 quite a few seen at 65 k one with ceramics. Can always retrofit buckets circa2-3 k.

Marmite. Will have to factor into price come resale.

997 is very sensitive to history, have to do your homework.

Buckets are more like 3k plus to retrofit. DK will know better than most.

OEM buckets for R8 and you are looking at £5k

Non model branded bucket such as S3 you are looking at £2k used, but tough to find any in a condition worthy of an R8

Seen this

http://www.vindisgroup.com/car-details/ ... 67463.html

Any thoughts?

In terms of service history should it have had 2 services? Assume every 2 years or 20 k miles? Brake fluid 2 yearly? Spark plugs? Diff oil?

It has ceramics, b&o , magnetic ride.. Will retrofit some buckets.

Thanks

Looks priced well. I'd get it checked over by another (separate to the one selling) dealer or specialist, and as long as you can get some buckets reasonably priced, you're laughing
From a personal point, I'd not want red interior on a white car, so good to see it appears to be seats only and not door cards etc, as that could get pricey. As Dave says above, non R8 branded buckets can be picked up for circa £3k, or if you maybe wanted to get the red retrimmed, you'd be looking at around £1k for a really decent job

Thanks for the replies. Tyres have 7 mm all round. Realistically what should I offer them/ start the negotiation at? Would 60 k be optimistic?
