What spec to buy - early R8

Post by Fatneck73 » Fri Oct 17, 2014 7:56 am

Thinking of buying an early spec R8...partly as an 'investment, (I think these are going to start to hold their value???) but I've never had one before...is there a specific spec that's best or things to avoid. Mag ride?

The time to buy as an investment was last year, the market has already bottomed out and good ones are on the rise

Must have spec is carbon fibre blade and inlays, extended leather, mag ride, B&O, parking sensors and heated seats. Black leather.

If you want a good investment buy an early V10 manual.,

Iv had 4 now and never lost a penny, other than running costs. Having said that, I buy right & sell right.

Good spec to go for, B&0, as much carbon as possible, mag ride, never made any difference to me as I didn't track the car, buy some buyers look for it. I like a cd changer, but I'm old school, so whatever floats your boat.

Good luck

+1 on the V10

I've also had 4, solid investments for what you are getting (effectively a de-tuned LP560-4)

The market is 'just' about waking up to this and they are about to bottom out at £60k

Mines for sale if you fancy a V10

£60k's too much for me...£40-45 is about my max hence it's gotta be a V8.

The R8 is quite sprc and mileage sensitive. Non mag ride V8s do sell for less.

My v8 didnt have it and didn't miss it. Spec wise though i hated having blanking plates for things like heated seats etc...

Extended leather a must along with alcantara roof lining to make the interior more fitting of an R8.

Its why when I got my V10, it had to have everything!

V10 is worth the extra if it means a wait.

Like DK's, mine is always for sale too at the right price ;-)

If you have got £45k, sell a few organs, get the V10. A V8 is not an R8 in my opinion, I was left very disappointed after my RS4, that's why I only had a v8 a couple of months!

It really is night & day, plus the boggo spec on a V10 is better

Yep, seconded. If it's 997.1 then has to be manual as tip is <beep>.
