Multi storey car park ramps

Post by DeanR9 » Sun Mar 02, 2014 2:46 pm

Having just recently traded in my RS4 B7 for an R8 V10+ I haven't yet managed to put too many miles on it. A quick 400 mile round trip to meet a friend for lunch the day after I collected it did help a little but works getting in the way now. Having always been very careful about where I park my car, ever since getting a huge car park dink in my first car. I am sat at work wondering if I can park it in the usual spots I'd take the RS. With the R8 being so much wider and lower than the RS, my worry is catching the CF splitter on ramps in multi storey car parks.

Has anybody had any trouble getting in and out of car parks? Or are there any other things I should possibly look out for that I've not thought of right now.

For those in the North East, the car park am thinking of in particular, is the blue multi storey at the metro centre. I used to like parking on an fairly empty level in there.

Cheers

I'd agree with Dave there
However, I did multi story car parks in the v10+ I had for the day whilst contemplating buying one and it managed basically ok, but of course, car park ramp angles aren't uniform. Because the overlaps are smaller than say a Ferrari 458, your clearance isn't as bad as you might expect as long as you're careful

Congrats on your purchase by the way, that's quite a trade up from a b7 :)

You guys are right, I generally stay clear of multi storeys and park in some ridiculous places and walk the rest of the way, to the great displeasure of friends and family. There's just a couple of places I've trusted for years but then wondered if I can even get into them anymore. It being my new pride and joy am just looking to avoid that dreaded scrapping sound, as I'd be wounded for days at the tinyest little mark. I know if you use them, marks happen, am just sad :kissmyrings:
Me and me brother are going to measure the angles of the entrance and exit ramps at the parks in question now and see, just for my own piece of mind before I go anywhere near them with the car.

I'm over the moon with the upgrade and had actually gone to see about a new B8 RS4, having always loved the R8 and it being what I truly wanted though, once the sales guy let me sit in it I was sold on it.

I'll have a go at getting some photos on now :beerchug:

Thanks guys

Had I spec'd the car myself without seeing this one, it's not a colour I'd of picked, as I just didn't know about it. Buying the showroom car though I instantly liked it, the first time I seen it the sun was shinning through the window and I think it just looks stunning in the sun shine. The more I spend time with it the more I like it too, having had black previously and this being pearlescent I am enjoying how it looks different from different angles and lighting. Getting it nice and clean though is quite a laborious task as any half arsed efforts stand out a country mile I've found and been ridiculed about.

Over all though so far I am well happy :biggrin3:

Interesting that they've dropped Estoril across the board. Pissed on the C7 parade.

Weren't Audi having problems with Estoril in terms of quality?

This R8 looks awesome.

Supply and quality apparently, though I've not heard of any specific paint issues.

Estoril is a lovely colour when you catch the light right.
I was dead set on red with black wheels and then I saw the frozen blue and then when I thought I was set again, I visited Newbury Audi, who have a V10+ in Nogaro

Bet Newbury aren't keen to do a deal though! They've had that car for ages.
