Re: I really enjoyed this V10+ review.
I'm not sure I could buy an ex demo R8 from my local as I know how it's been treated and by how many people
It'd be like having an incredible girlfriend that was great looking etc, but most of the town had been through her including some of your mates and they'd all used and abused her for a bit of fun

Don't be silly G
It's just a piece of metal! It's got warranty and the R8s are bullet proof and made and designed to be thrashed, the love it!
Buy it, enjoy it, sell it
Life is too short

Agreed, but I think I'd sit and wait a bit longer for the price to tumble, which they are.HYFR wrote:Don't be silly G

Tom Hartley has a sepang 6k 2010 car for £62,950
Really surprised at that price given the miles
But the V10s will bottom out in the £50s as the V8s have on be £40s so you won't have far to fall given the Plus's will be top of the pile

It's largely academic now as I've just been in to have a look at it's been sold this morning
Couldn't find out how much for though as salesman was out and car was back in workshop getting prepped

DK, your spyder is R-Tronic? Is it as garbage as most made out?
Not sure I would plump for a plus at current money, but the V10s at 60k or so are interesting.

ASBO was a manual
Caine was a manul
Elmo was an R-Tronic....
Luther is a manual
The R-Tronic does indeed have some truly rubbish moments, particularly crawling round town, pulling away from junctions etc ... but, you learn to drive it ... its an automated manual, the very same manual gearbox as the manual, just robotised ... so you need to drive it like a manual, that doesn't just mean pressing the paddles, that means thinking about when to shift, and what you do with your feet, i.e. come of the throttle, change gear = smooth .... WOT gear change = JOLT
when you get it right, it is VERY rewarding as auto's go ... the downshift blips and upshift farts are AWESOME with a Capristo ... it helps having two hands on the wheel with a car that you can get to move around the tarmac, and the kick in the back on WOT upshifts are cool
so, in summary, I liked it ... sure, the S-Tronic is probably worlds apart (I've not tried), but the R-Tronic, if you NEED paddles, is no bad thing
Better than the open gate manual? NO
does that mean I think the open gated manual is better? NO
they are both excellent gearboxes, suited to what you prefer ... there are many who sit very firmly in both camps, and so you each get the joys to enjoy ... myself, I think I am open to both.
I love the metal gate manual, lots of involvement when driving ... makes it slightly more of a handful on track, but only makes you think and work abit harder but gives so much joyful feedback
so basically, unless you are firmly stuck in one camp, for whatever reason, logical or illogical rascism ... I would not be bothered about transmission and go for Spec and condition.

Thanks DK, insight appreciated.

Unbelievable Dave,
That's just the R8 section too. Proper car porn...
Some cracking motors in your history.
I will remove my tongue from your ass shortly.

haha
yes, its nice to look back on the memories, of which i've had many in all my cars ... they are definitely not garage queens (mainly because I can't get a car in my garage ... ) but they are always cared for as my Pride and Joy (...well, except perhaps for that poor RS 3 !)
