Now you've done it. R8 is ghay and therefore just won't do.

Sound and looks, the R8 wins hands down.

At super car level, those two things are quite important as its an emotional purchase.
Agreed. But I think the 991 is a good looking beast, more so than the 997 was.

As for cost, 991 Turbo S comes very well loaded, you'd do well to add another 25ks worth of kit.
991TS is a lovely looking car, I agree
However, our estate agent drives a cayman and my mates wife has a 991, and that association would bug me, plus the extra few £k puts it a little out of reach (also, wife would believe audi is around £70k, but new porsche turbo, no way !)
You're right about the cost, that was my clumsy fingers on and small iPhone keypad. Configuration of my ideal spec is circa 155k
A friend works in our local Porsche dealer and he recently came back from a tip to Germany where he drove a 991Ts. He couldn't believe how fast it launched off the line on road tyres. Apparently the acceleration is truly brutal and the 4WS a work of physics defying magic in its execution

What have you done to your wife?!!

I cannot even try and pull the wool, rumbled before I've even opened my mouth!

I get the 911 image, it's a bit 'dentist', R8 doesn't seem to have attracted a specific image.

Haha, she's not a car person at all, but knows a brand new Porsche Turbo would mean cheaper/less holidays, no new kitchen etc, so i'm Best off in an Audi where she probably also feels safe that I won't attract an 18yr old girlfriend
Also, if I had a porsche, I'd have to take my messy kids in it too with their football boots and chocolate fingers everywhere and you should see the mess they make in my RS4

Damn you!

I picked the wife who argues for a living. School boy error. Thankfully child has been honed into my ways and is pretty clean in the car. Eating biscuits or similar is verboten!

Good luck with the spec'ing. I don't doubt you'll get an awesome product at the end of it. Are you keeping the 4 as the mud/chocolate mover?

Don't get me wrong, she's still at an international standard at arguing, just doesn't know cars

The RS4 will stay as that's my 20k miles a year everyday car, but the R8 will live in its side of the garage under a cover and be a weekend toy. Realistically, it'll probably be Xmas by the time I place an order as we've a couple of other things on at the mo and I think there'll also be better deals in the new year too. Hopefully, it'll coincide with an early summer delivery
In my typical fashion though, I'll have changed my mind 15 times by then

15 is counting full changes of plan only, if you consider minor changes, we'd be into the 1000's :)

Here you go Graeme, and just down the road from you I believe!!!

http://www.audi.co.uk/used-cars/used-ca ... c=se_na_re_

I reckon you could get that for mid to low £90's, good spec with buckets as well. Certainly worth saving £30K plus on a new one.

If I was in the market for one of these I'd be looking at this.

Saying all of this you probably know about it already :beerchug:
2018 RS5 Nardo Grey with the good toys - Gone
2019 Mercedes E63s AMG - Broke down 3 times - got rid
2019 RS3 4 door - Gone

There's loads of ex-demo stock, they will fester for a while yet I reckon. Could be some very good value to be had out of these shortly.

Didn't think it would be long until they dropped below 100k.

I think this is the one Graeme and I were discussing a few weeks ago. It has gone down 10k since then.

I've had a good look over this car, and apart from it being white rather than my preferred red, it's pretty much my ideal spec

However, it's done 7k miles or so as a demonstrator shared between Swindon and Tetbury dealers, and although these R8's are designed to take abuse, 7,000 miles of the serious abuse demo cars get is going to be pretty wearing

I'm getting my current house move out the way before I do anything, and I think I'll probably buy something early next year
If that car's still around, and by then it'll probably have gone down even more if it is, then I'll have another look at it with a little more intent

I've completely ruled out buying a new V10 plus at this point in time as the replacement's due for showing next summer and customer deliveries early 15, so the thought of how much depreciation a new £130k car would take has completely put me off (think £130k to £70k in 12-18months)

I think the wise move financially (I know, I can't believe I'm considering this on a car purchase either :drink: ) is to buy from the used market a 12-24mknty old V10 in close to the spec I want, run it for a further 12-18months in which time it'll lose a small amount, but not a fortune, and then see a) what the new car's actually like, and B) if I still have a shirt on my back with which to buy

The Swindon Audi car is certainly very nice though - perhaps if I offer 85 ;)

Completely agree on a new buy, it's one of the things that's put me off, well that and resignation that I'm going to order a C7 in the New Year.

Once the new model is announced it's going to take a bit of a hit, that'd be the time to buy.

I was in there this afternoon getting my squeaking brakes sorted and had a good look at it again
It is a lovely spec car, but I don't think there's much room for manoeuvre in the latest 99k price tag going by the response I had from them when I suggested I might be interested at 85-90:)
