Guys and girls,
I have a B7 RS4 avant but am looking to add an R8 V10 manual, probably Spyder in the not too distant future.
Can anyone give me an idea about running costs, servicing / or any potential big bills etc? I'd do about 3 - 4k per year in it.
I see that their depreciation is slowing now so I am very tempted indeed and would want a spyder as some top down motoring would be preferable. Given my budget of about 65k, they seem to be coming down near to my price range. I understand that dynamically they're not massively different to the coupe?
Dare I say it but they seem to be a wise buy if bought correctly?
Cheers for any advice.
Dave

Re: R8 V10 Spyder advice
As long as it doesn't need brakes or tyres and has a warranty, the running costs are non existant.
No different to a B7.
Depreciation, yes they are a safe bet, but buying in the summer isn't the wisest move if you want to minimise depreciation, but at the same time there are bugger all for sale during winter.
Dynamically yes the same as coupe, BUT 200kg heavier and you do feel it, slightly slower and less shove.
But roof down, V10! Epic

Re: R8 V10 Spyder advice
That is great to hear. Ive just put front brakes on the B7 at £1000 so yes, I'd like to avoid that one!
I don't normally do the aftermarket warranty thing, I'd like to try and buy from an Audi dealer where at least I'll get an in-house one.
I've never bought warranties / extended them, maybe I should consider one this time considering this will be a much more expensive car than I am used to buying?
I had a 911 and didn't buy with one then. Engine could have gone at about £10k but didn't. Suppose its the chance you take - I suppose a new v10 engine would be £25k if things went very wrong?!
