Problem with my RS4:(

Post by OskiRs4 » Tue Oct 30, 2012 7:52 pm

Hi:)

My car has been fine the last few weeks but today my EPC light came on, so i drove carefully back home then the engine management light came on:( it was driving fine still although I drove very carefully back,

Would it be best to get booked in to an Audi garage? or an Independent? I got the car up North from an independent and have some sort of warranty on it,not to sure how good this is? obviously its to far to take back there, but could do with it sorted ASAP.

Thanks :beerchug:

Your quickest answer would probably be to put a shout out for a local forum member with VCDS to plug it in and see what errors it throws up.
Current: Macan Turbo, Boxster 987 S
Gone: RS6 C6 Avant, RS4 B7 Avant, Tamora Speed Six

..or Dean at 4Rings, mobile tech http://www.4rings.co.uk/

If the EML is flashing then its misfiring, most likely caused by a faulty coilpack.
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar

I have the same issue mate. Both the EPL light and Engine light are permenantly on and have been for a month now :-(

Took it to Audi who came back with Ecu fault - check sum error. Got it booked in with Doug this Sat.

However it drives like normal so not too worried.

Is yours remapped?

If you get stuck, a standard run of the mil odb reader available from Halfords will give some idea.
Sure you won't get the finer detail but even the error codes can be very useful.

Hey mate do you mean Epc? or is there an EPL light too?

I understand it not good to drive it when the em light is on, so I will try and get it done asap, hopefully this weekend, I am a bit annoyed really as I have payed over 23k for a car and had it just over a month and have lights coming on,so hopefully not to sinister, otherwise I will be driving it back to where I got it from, hope yours gets sorted,Is Doug from Mrc?
