Spacers and locking nut hell

Finally managed to get some H&R spacers - 10mm back and 8mm front. Got one side sorted and looking good, other side underway then disaster: locking wheel nut key snaps

So what do I do now? Can't get the wheel off so will have to take the other side off again and remove the spacer. But I wont be able to get the original shorter locking bolt back on and not sure if the new longer bolts will fit.

Why are these things never straight forward?

Frustrated of Maidenhead.

How about running to a local tyre fitters and see if they can get it off or most tool shops like screwfix or toolstation do a removal tool for that sort of thing.

Yes, just trying to see who's open on Sunday. Is it un-wise to run with one spacer on and one off?

Not advisable long term but fine for a short run. Alternatively if you have any kind of breakdown membership they may be able to help you.

Halfords may sell the wheel nut remover kit?

Managed to find a Kwik Fit open on a Sunday. They'll charge but at least it'll be sorted.

Got Mcgard locking nuts so next job is fitting the larger locking wheel nut cap onto the new smaller ones.

I had McGards on my R32 - personally I think the Audi ones are better made - I used some non-drying mastic to stick the covers back on - worked fine for several years.

Hi did you sort out getting the larger cap to stick? Had exactly the same done yesterday and having the same problem?

You need something like this - worked on my R32 a treat.

Best bet is ask nicely at your local bodyshop as 24m is a lot !
