Good trade buyers?

I'm selling up and want to get a few trade bids in before I consider if it's worthwhile with the private sale hassle.

Can anyone recommend a dealer they've used and found helpful or a known RS4 specialist?

Blind trade bids will border on an insult, they will presume your shifting a pup and allow a good margin against you stretching the truth about condition etc, taking it round a few local ones may do a little better as spending that kinda wad blind makes anyone err on the safe side,if you can find a dealer with an established good relationship with specialised sports car buyer you may be able to remove the "unknown" factor from your bids.Fountain may be worth a try DrG on pistonheads i believe? As ever spec colour mileage and condition make a big difference to these type of cars.

Thanks lengster, I agree. I know I'd get a better bid once they saw the condition in person so I would definitely drive to any dealers.

I want to get a shortlist of specialists who appreciate the spec, condition etc rather than a webuyanycar type dealer, then decide who to visit.

You might want to give forum member & site Sponsor neilc a call. He just sold my B7 on a commission basis, and helped make it as hassle-free a process as possible. He was also a pleasure to deal with – he’s a true enthusiast and has owned 2 B7’s himself, so knows the cars and can talk passionately about them to prospective buyers. Here’s his website:

http://www.norfolkperformancecarsales.co.uk/

I’d certainly recommend his services if you want to sell your car but don’t want the hassle of dealing with private buyers. I guess Neil might buy your car off you if you preferred that – at the very least he’d be able to give you an accurate price for it knowing it’s an enthusiast-owned example. And if he was to sell it on a commission basis he should be able to get you a better return than just selling to a trader.

To give you an indication, Basingstoke Audi offered me £14k  for mine back in Feb this year when it had 74k on the clock. Neil suggested we market mine at £18500 (now it had 80k on the clock) and we’d taken a deposit within a couple of weeks of it being on the market. It sold for the asking price (minus the cost of respraying the bumpers), so even after deducting Neil’s fees & expenses I ended up with a return of approx £3k more than if I’d traded it in. Yes I could have got a bigger return by selling privately but I didn’t want the hassle.

Might be worth considering as an option…hope that helps anyway!

Cheers...Sevy
