Flickering headlight

Post by victor2vt » Mon Aug 27, 2012 6:36 pm

Car been into Revolution trying to resolve this problem

After a while passenger side headlight start to flicker then goes out, sign of light with red cross across it appears in dash.

Stop car, turn ignition off then re start car, headlight comes back on again (so it's not the bulb ?)

Glenn at Revolution has had a good look and has had all connections cleaned.

It's still happening, any ideas anyone ?

Is this not the symptom that the
Bulb has had it?

Yes, I have the same problem, when it went to be serviced they said its either bulb or control unit, they swapped the bulbs round, the bulb still flickers but on the left hand side now ruling out the control unit

Had this with my car when I first bought it, it was the headlamp ballast ( control module). This all got sorted for me under warranty by Audi. Think it was about £300-400!

as above its the ignition pack on the bottom of the headlight! mine is doing the same at the moment its well annoying!

I have done some searching and found that they are Bosch AL parts and so wont have to pay stealers £300-400 as above!!

you can get new parts here ;)

http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/al-bosch-1 ... e-ballast/

The Bosch AL part number is 1 307 329 114 and the oem part number is 8E0 941 329 A if you wish to do some more searching :audibash:

mine was doing the same thing - changed to phillips d1s's today and it's stopped. If it comes back it can only be the ballasts then @ £125 from hids4u.

Made enquiries and discovered there are 3 types of ballast depending on the original spec of the car !!!!

Going to try and see if supplier will send me a pair of each so when the bumper comes off we can fit the pair it needs without having to take the bumper off again and get money refunded on the 2 sets i send back.

Why do they have to make it so bloody complicated ??

Tell me about it man - my car has now decided its "ok" but flashing up oil pressure, coolant and brakes in red on the check! I can only assume something needs reset as all levels are a ok... God I hate red warning lights!

As it comes up with ok at the end, all is ok?? The warning symbols just cycle I thought, as long as its ok at the end bingo. How I understood it :S

Victor, hold off doing anything if you haven't done so already until I see you at Revolution tomorrow. :beerchug: I may have a solution for you.
