RS4 Theft...

Post by AdrianD » Mon Jul 16, 2012 10:29 am

Just received a txt msg from a mate who works for Sussex police telling me that he's read an internal memo about RS4's being stolen. The thieving scum are apparently going round the country sussing out motors to nick with RF grabbers and exporting them... Just thought i'd pass the info on...

But I thought that wasn't really possible with modern RF keys as the code changes every time. Even if you captured it and resent it it'd no longer work?

I haven't heard of an RF weakness. Hey upside is maybe I can get a spare key cut without going to the dealers - BMW owners can!

Unrelated but still interesting.

The RS4 with F1 5TYG reg was smashed to pieces racing a Focus in Hall Green, Birmingham around a year ago.
I have also seen the reg on a white Focus RS though it's actually a very good replica, how do I know?
Someone offered to me in px for.....an RS4

I totally understand why RS4s are bein nicked as fast getaway cars - what successful bank heist would be complete without one in British weather  - but why steal to export? Who wants right hand drive RS4s on the continent?

They get sent to either the far east or middle eastern countries. High spec right hand drive cars are sort after out they due to it being different so I am told by a mate who works out in the middle east.

Glad they have yet to cotton onto the rs6 having more boot space and quicker

My pal who lives in Essex had his RS4 Cab opened using a RF unit, they routed around inside but never took the car
He spoke to Poole Audi and they said it may be possible to open the car but not override the imobiliser
