Anybody know much about the new vred vorti tires

The vredestein ultrac vorti is here to replace the sessantas. There won't be many, if any at all, user reviews about yet. It's supposed to be in the "absolute top segment" of the market. It has an asymmetric profile. I went to clickontires today, which is only 6 miles away from me. The are a dealer of vred tires and at a good price. I should have read the tire labels to compare the vorti with sessantas wrt to noise level and whatever other ratings they put on labels.

Vorti's have B rating wet grip compared to C rating for Sessanta's (equal dry) but noisier at 71db compared to 67db for Sessanta's. Only available in 255/35 though, not 275/30. Asymmetric pattern will made them naff in snow compared to Sessanta's, price within a few quid. Went for tried and tested and getting Sessanta's fitted on Thursday and then I can wait for the reviews to come out about them for when I need my next set.

Hmmm, so much for vred literature sayin they are a quieter tire, the liars. I suppose the vorti are gonna be very similar to GY asymmetric 2s then. Would u know their noise rating by any chance P_G?

That's the thing I love about the freaky deeky Dutch, the info. I provided on the Vorti's and Sessantsas is on their website plain as day!

No idea on noise rating on F1's, sorry.

Hi Ads

The Vred Vorti is an XL tyre the same as the Sessanta, it has the same 96Y load and speed rating.

Both tyres are actually of an Assymetric tread design though the Vorti is of the more recognised style.

The Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 2 has a 71db rating, same as the Vorti.

Sessanta is available in both 275/30 and 255/35 whereas the Vorti is only available in 255/35.

I think that about covers it ;-)

Cheers

Little Glen

...so the sessantas are quiter than the GY A2s..?? Blimey. The GY A1s must be really noisy for peeps to comment that their replacements (a2s) are so much quiter.

The Vorti's do come as XL as can be seen from this link

http://www.vredestein.com/car-tyres/sum ... rti/sizes/

If you scroll over 'show' to the side of the tyre it will show fuel economy rating, wet weathr grip and noice rating but all tyre sizes are the same so Vorti's are like said E on economy, B on wet grip and 71db and Sessantas are E on economy, B on wet grip and 67db so better on wet grip, equal economy and price, question over durability and noisier and probably not as good in the snow.

I have had both Sessantas and GY F1 Asymmetric 2s on my car in the last 6 months. The Goodyears are a lot quieter and 'nicer' feeling without any doubt.

A LOT quieter or just quieter? Hmmm. If Uve had both within last 6 months, then u will remember quite well how they felt like and compared to each other. Nicer , as in, that bit more comfortable? Was there much in it in terms of noticing differences in dry weather grip under "normal" spirited driving around UK roads? And no doubt the GYs looked significantly wider than vreds cos of extra rim protection, although the vreds do have some. How long did it take ur vreds to bed ?

Kay - a lot quieter and a lot nicer feeling. How the situation came about is a long story connected with having to buy winters in one part of Europe (yes obliged by law) and then having to buy summers again in another. Almost none of my driving is on UK roads. Comparison is between tyres which are brand new to around 2,000 km in each case.

Not sure I can really claim 'spirited' driving in the amount of time I have been able to use either, so I'm talking normal (i.e. the stuff most of us do around 90% of the time) driving. Both had truly awful weather thrown at them - torrential rain and lots of standing water - and both coped admirably. At the end of the day, though, there is no doubt for me that the GY Asymmetric 2 is a much nicer tyre to live with. The rim protection, as you mention, is also far superior to the Sessantas'.

By the way, if anybody's interested in a nearly new set of Sessantas (255s), just south of Munich - including a 5th one brand new (not that I've done a great selling job here), please let me know..!

Okay, wife has been running these now for 2 months on her front wheel drive A3 2.0tdi.

Compared to the ditch finder cheapo tyres fitted when we bought it these are night and day.

the wife loves them but the real test came today with all the rain and floods and my first drive.

Marks out of 10

Dry Handling = 8

Damp Handling = 8

Wet Handling = 10

Aquaplane = 9

Never have I had a tyre that I was more confident in the wet than dry.

I will without a doubt be fitting these to my RS4.

No personal experience but they didn't do too well in the Evo Mag tyre test (see issue 175) but then again they made Pirellis their winner and a lot of people seem to think they're sh*te on RS4s.....

Anyone else notice that there almost an identical copy of michelin pilot tread pattern? I read the evo test and they didnt fair well at all but couldnt believe pirelli won.
