Another de-coked RS4 (SW London)

Post by Adam » Tue Jul 03, 2012 12:41 am

My car has now done a mere 21k miles after 5 years in my ownership but does a fair bit of London driving so suspected a de-coke would do it good.

Had considered AmD but Essex is a bit of a ball ache for me to get to from SW London, and I don't use the car to get to work during the week.

After a recommendation on here my car went to MMS Technik in Sunbury on Thames, they picked up and dropped back for £20 which saved me a lot of hassle.

No rolling road like AmD however the before and after photos were all the proof I needed that the engine will be better off now. Car was kept for 3 days as the coking is soaked overnight to loosen and remove it. Car seems a little livelier and freer revving although it never felt exactly slow so it is hard to avoid the placebo effect.

Overall I was very happy with the service from Dan (ex Audi AD and OPC apparently) and his guys, a pleasure to deal with and the even touched up one of my alloys for free. Its great to have a good and (relatively) local indie as and when the wear and tear bits come up, and just use the Audi AD for the service and stamps.

Cost was approx £540 all in, including the pick up/delivery and new oil and filters.

it will be interesting to see if the fuel consumption improves if breathing is restored ....

.....not that its something we should worry about whilst fuel is so cheap (comment sent from 2020 on my iWatch 7)
