Inspection for used RS4

Not been here for a while. I’m BITM for an B7 Avant. Went up to Milton Keynes today to see an Avant at a Jag dealer but was disappointed by what I found. Do any of the Audi tuners (MRC, Unit 21, etc) offer an inspection service, similar to a standard AA check but more in-depth and tailored to these cars? Or perhaps there is a company out there specialising in inspecting the more exclusive end of the car market (not that the RS4 is *that* exclusive, but hopefully you know what I mean).

I just don’t have the time to keep travelling only to be disappointed but *really* want to get back into a sorted RS4.

Additionally, I’ve only heard so-so to bad things about Autoprestige in Bradford. Do I believe the consensus and avoid them or am I being mislead by a vocal minority?

Thanks in advance for any advice / opinions

I reckon you'd get pretty far with an AA inspection, the Buyer's Guide and a few read throughs of all the other stickies so they're all in your head, although I can't speak from personal experience. In all honesty I went into RS4 ownership relatively blind and trusting Newcastle Audi who, to their credit, were pretty good. Have you seen many Audi dealership cars on the market?

I can't see any other independant specialists away good business. The logistics and willingness on the private seller's part might make it impractical unless you're looking at a car near Newcastle (Revolution), Banbury (MRC) or as Amar says Unit 20 near Liverpool. There must be other competent garages too.

I just missed two in quick succession, the second one (a beautiful Daytona - one of the few Avants still on the Audi website) by trying my luck and then missing the boat because the dealer took so long to get back to me and then another dealer in the group got a deposit down. I’m happy to pay slightly over the odds and even skip an inspection with a franchised dealer, but not with anybody else.

I think Unit 20 are the closest to the one I’ve now got my eyes on. Will give them a buzz tomorrow. Almost every single time I’ve phoned MRC during the past few years they have *never* picked up the phone. Unless I’m calling the wrong number...

Would appreciate some confirmation (or the opposite) re Autoprestige. Preferably from somebody who isn’t a mate / employee ;)

Hi All

We are more than happy to inspect any car prior to purchase, we will only do this at our Gateshead workshops as this
allows us to get the vehicle on to the ramps for a more thorough report, this means you would need to get the seller to bring the car to us.

If you want any more info or would like to get a car inspected please contact me on workshop@revolution247.com

Also interested in why it wasn't a good buy. Thanks.

This may sound odd, but I would be uncomfortable stating exactly why the car disappointed me. All I will say is that it is definitely not overpriced and that the dealer was most co-operative with my wishes / requests. If you know your RS4s, are prepared to ask a lot of questions prior to viewing (a lot more than I did) and don’t live too far away, it may be worth your time.

P.S. A bit late in answering this; the car may have gone by now.
