Wheel arch mods

Post by klauster » Sat Jun 02, 2012 10:31 pm

For those people running coilovers or large spacers, how have u got round the issue of rubbing wheel arch liners, is it ok to trim them abit, or have you had them rolled, any ideas/help would be appreciated

I removed the clip
used a heat gun to keep it warm
wrapped a towel around the lip, and pinched/pulled with my hands, it's aluminum and yields easily
just be patient, a little at a time, keep heating it

top dead center (12 o'clock) , pinched the lip 5-6" on either side, it pinches the liner in place
then starting at 12 o'clock, I pulled it out from say 10 to 2, gradually, perhaps 1/2" at most
it only rubbed with Michelin tires, now it dosn't rub at all

hi mate ARCH ROLLING is the way forward i had mine ROLLED by a company www.mobilemotormedic.co.uk They advised me first, and then i went along and had them done : Good lads and cost me £65 each arch alot cheaper than buying TYRES now i have no worries of the catching or rubbing. All in all they did an excellent JOB Highly recommended.

why'd you need that done? you're on HRSport...1/2" lower than stock + 10mm HR spacers?

what tires? Micheline Pilot Super Sport are pretty beefy...wouldn't be surprised if that was it.

I have 10mm MTM spacers rear and am looking at picking up a set of 275.30.19 Michelin PSS (which are only 25.5" height vs. 26.0 stock 255.35.19). I'm on stock suspension but I'm going to have a go at the Europe SS perhaps.

Anyone know how much lower the Euro SS suspension is to standard suspension?

H&R, net measured lowering, front 0.625, rear 0.5
8 mm x 4
it's funny, with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S on oem wheels it rubbed in front a bit, very square shoulder
with the 8 mm, 19x10 wheels ET35, 265/35/19 Conti SC3 it did not rub

I have new wheel arch liners now... but can anyone confirm if they have a gap between the liner and the panel? I seem to have a 1 cm gap, which doesn't seem right, and would explain the rubbing issues....?

Whats the best way to get a seal on the inside of the wheel arch and the liner?

where abouts is the 1cm gap on yours? had a quick look and feel of mine today and couldn't see or feel any gap?.

Wheel arch mods

Only problems i ever had was when i had the new eagle f1s a2 fitted (255s). They rubbed due to the added rim protection. Had to remove spacers on the rears and fronts.
