Help, Sat Nav CD

I have a new Sat Nav Disc RNS-e and can't remove the existing disk. I have flipped the screen to expose the two MP3 cards and have pushed the eject button but nothing comes out. I assume there is a disc in there because when i try and insert another disc the one inside can be heard spinning round.
Am I doing anything wrong?

Sounds to me like the rns-e has had the security setting switched on, which disables the eject button - it's a basic security feature, probably more for demonstrator & showroom cars so dealers don't "lose" expensive discs. It's a 5 min job to change the setting but you need VCDS / VAGCOM to do it. Suggest you put a shout out for anyone local with the software. Alternatively, a dealer could do it through their own systems but unless you have a mate there you'd be charged labour, prob minimum half hour.

All you need is someone to change the value in Adaptation Channel 67 of the RNS-E:
Channel 067: CD/DVD Drive
000 - Normal/Eject-Button enabled
001 = Eject CD/DVD (will not be saved)
255 = Eject-Button disabled/locked (Anti-Theft-Protection)
Small point - the RNS-E uses a DVD not a CD for the maps, the Western Europe one is so large it has to be a dual-layer DVD (so it's over 4.5GB).

Took car to Audi Watford, very helpful. They took car to service bay and plugged it in but still they could not get it to eject, they asked me to arrange a time for them to inspect in more detail.
Strange....

I'll have a look at it for you with
VCDS. PM me if you want to meet.
I'm in Herts too.

It's not a copied disc is it? They can sometimes stick in as the DVD-R discs can be thicker than a pressed disc and get jammed.

Tim
Thanks for your help yetserday and Petrol Dave for your input.
I have just spoken to Audi re a problem with my Sat Nav, that as I live in Berkhamstead, it thinks I am in Enfield. They said that it is due for a Sat Nav update and that they will need the car in to sort.
Do you think that this update will resolve the problem or would it be an aerial issue?

Your'e welcome.
I think they're probably talking b*llocks.
I suspect it's the GPS unit, or a connection therefore.
Be interesting to hear what they say however.

I'd like to know what "this update" is, they refer to?
You now have the latest firmware for the RNS-E (from the CD you bought).
But I suspect even that is irrelevant.
Heh ho

If you don't get too much joy out of Audi Watford I would give Audi Aylesbury a try...usually get more sense out of those folks

That's a top contender for "Bollo**s of the Millenium" Award - it's an aerial or aerial cable issue.
The latest EU SW version of the pre-2010 RNS-E is 0650, which you will have already.
