Have you been affected by the petrol shortages?

Post by wolfgang » Sat Mar 31, 2012 11:42 am

I've hardly driven my car over the last 4-5 days. :(

It's been madness round here with virtually no fuel available. I couldn't get V-Power from any Shell garage locally so settled for a tankful of BP Ultimate. I'm trying to hold onto that for a couple of more days when I hope things will be back to normal.

A frustrated Wolfgang!

I went to my local shell last night. I still had half a tank but thought I would fill up for the weekend, they had completely run out of v power.

Oxford hates cars so unsurprisingly no real drama here.
But don't commute so no real desperate need.

I filled up on Tuesday before everyone started panicking. :bigblink:

All the garages round here have run out of diesel but still have unleaded - which surprises me as the press are saying that petrol sales are up 172% but diesel sales are "only" up 77%?

The Shell garage down the road from me has run dry. I thought it might happen so I made an effort to moderate my driving. Then I thought - sod that - and went back to my old 19mpg ways. I can't help it. It's the car... it taunts me when I drive like a pussy.

Got about 40 Miles left in tank, went to another 3 shell garages still no luck. They all have standard unleaded but no v power.

Just managed to get £20 of BP Ultimate, Shell and Tesco sold out. Not going to get me far at all.

you will not kill the car if you put standard unleaded in better than walking.

As I wrote in a similar thread elsewhere I have to laugh, the RS was on fumes on Friday so went out in the SEAT with petrol can to fill up with V-Power at the Shell Station on the Coast Road which historically is 3-4p litre on unleaded more expensive than any other station in the area, only one in 20 miles with it at 151.9 so 8.50 for 5.6 litres, enough to get the RS to the same garage an hour later, V-Power up to 156.9!

£50 for just over 30 litres, rip off.

Yesterday went past the same station, V-power back down to 150.9 now that all the local stations have been replenished. Profiteering at its best. Twats.

Three local Shell garages round here have no fuel whatsoever. BP still has fuel. Not sure what's going on with Shell.
