Visiting the UK later this month

Post by maxbhp » Sat Mar 10, 2012 3:24 am

Hello my friends across the pond,

I'll be visiting family in London from the 24th of March to April 11th.
Seeing that we have so few RS's here in Southern California where I'm at, I'm very excited to check out the Audi scene across the pond.
I've already planned a trip up to see Doug at MRC on the 28th, and a meeting over at the Aston Martin factory on the 29th (Hopefully I'll be coming up in a V12 Vantage loaner courtesy of some connections there :bigblink: ). That will be a fun car to compare with MRC's supercharged RS.
I'm also considering stopping at Silverstone for a quick hot lap ride along, the Heritage Motor Museum, and Prodrive since all of them seem to be close by.
Currently I am planning to find a B&B for the night of the 28th since my main base will be down near central London.
Anyone have any other cool Audi or auto related shows/shops they know of and recommend or just want to join me for some petrol sniffing fun?

BTW, here is a link to pics of my 2008 RS with Black Optic Package with many mods:

I'm not so sure if that's legal or good for you. If you're gunna sniff petrol then you might as well go the whole hog and get some class-As, turn your road trip into "Fear and Loathing in Milton Keynes."

I suggest asking Jules when/where all the VAG shows are, his car can be scene (get it) on the RS246 home page.
No matter where you go, there you are.

I am booked into MRC on the 28th for a brake fluid change at 9am, but I've now decided to have a lot more work done so a one hour job may well now be a whole day so probably won't hang around as will need to get to work for 12 PM in Coventry. But if you are there 9-10 say hi, I have the plus in my sig.

Bro, if I was down that way I'd hook you up but work, unfortunately, keeps me away. Your car looks awesome however. MRC will be a great visit and Doug and the team will look after you well, Silverstone is a good track, Brands Hatch is a stunner though. You know, thinking about it I might be down south during that time - let me consult the wife and get back to you.

Where do you need the B&B - see if I have mates in the area?

Oh - and do you know just how rare your cloth/leather seats are here in the UK - if you come here, bring your seats as they are exceptionally hard to get hold of but very much desired!?!

Great Amar, I'm planning to drive up from London on the morning of the 28th and hopefully I'll run into you. I have nothing to do until the following day at noon when I have a lunch meeting at the Aston Martin factory so maybe I can give you a ride to work if need be.

So far I am planning to hang out at MRC (VERY excited about a ride in the TTs RS4 :biggrin3: ) and maybe check out the Heritage Museum on the 28th and then find a spot for the night.
Aston Martin and Prodrive the 29th and then back to London.

Timdogg, appreciate the offer but really don't want to put anyone out at all, I'm sure I'll find a clean bed to rest my head that night.
Regarding my seats, I actually bought them off somebody who said they were from a UK car; no idea if this is true but I love them and they aren't going anywhere :)

Awesome. I've read a lot of threads and posts on your car for a while now, looking forward to seeing it in person.

It will be there, I've just loaded it on to a low loader to make the journey down. Excuse how dirty it is but it's just about to have a massive overhaul!!! Why don't you try and go to Santa pod to see it run?

Thanks for the offer there, but I work about 30 miles away from mrc, couldn't ask you to go all that way, although I remember when I was driving across the US just recently and people thought five hour journeys were short, crazy! Also, if you haven't already... Check the price of fuel here, it's insane. It will cost you about £110 to fill that Aston at least I'd imagine, but I'll see you down there, might have a ride in the Aston whilst (if) I wait.

30 miles is nothing for us Yanks, but it makes a huge difference if I'm cruising at 80mph or stuck in horrible LA gridlock traffic.

When will you guys be at Santa Pod?
