Hello & My MRC'd RS4

Well I guess first a little about myself. As you can guess from my username, my name is Muneer, I'm 21 and bought my Sprint Blue B7 (the best colour right? :P ) in October last year - although I couldn't drive it until November, due to insurance :(
Prior to the RS4 I had an e46 318Ci, so it was quite a leap, but I'm sure as with many of you, the RS4 has always been a dream car of mine and as soon as I was able to get a "sensible" insurance quote on one, I had to go out and get one.

After lurking and reading all the rave reviews of MRC on here, I got my car booked in with them in January for a 20K service, inspection and health check.
The car did 382PS and 419Nm on their dyno, which according to Doug was the norm for these cars, due to the carbon build-up.
I had discussed with Doug on doing a carbon clean and a few other mods. Then after exchanging a few emails and finalising the mods list, I dropped the car off at MRC on Jan, for the following:
  • Intake Ports Clean
    Stage 2 Manifold
    Cold Air Feed
    Milltek Non Res. Valved
    Milltek Decat Downpipes
    Stage 2 Remap
    De-tangoed Headlights
These are the results from the work done above:

The difference in the car is just amazing, it feels like a completely different beast to what it was before and sounds like one too :biggrin3:. Although the sound of the exhaust and decat is glorious, I will be getting the non-res pipes swapped for resonated ones soon, as the car is VERY loud and a bit much for my daily use.
I also don't have enough words of praise for the guys at MRC, especially Doug who I must say was very helpful and answered all the questions I had - and there were quite a few, heh.

Here are a few pics of my car, taken from MRC's Facebook page (hope they don't mind).

Impressive results there... It's well known that Sprint Blue ones are the fastest even before the mods :)

Think i'll be giving MRC a call myself very soon after seeing this..

Welcome to the forum - from another 21 year old sprint blue owner! I too had to wait until Nov (6th) when I turned 21 to get insured and bought mine at 20, did you go with Admiral too?

Great results, all great set of mods that transform the car into what it should have been when left from the factory.

I had the res pipes fitted last month to my full system (200 cell cats) and I would say it eliminates about 20% of the boomyness

@DavidRS4: Thanks! The work is definitely worthwhile, the car pulls soo much better through the whole rev range and it feels like there is no end in power.

@AdrianD: Sprint blue is definitely the best colour :D'.

@Amar: Thanks man. I've seen some pics of yours on here, it's a stunning car. As for insurance, very close heh, it's actually Elephant, but they are part of the Admiral group anyway.

@aka_dk: Naw lol, but close. I paid £2,200 for the year, my 318 renewal came in at £1,800, so I think it was worthwhile.

@sonny: I'm glad to hear that. The novelty of the loudness really wore off fast for me. I may be 21, but it's just too much for me daily. 20% less should hopefully be enough.

@Outtlaw: Thanks. I do love the look on peoples faces when they ask my age and I say I'm 21.

Thanks Muneer. My 320 D insurance was £1,900. The RS 6+, £1,600! :)

Spooky how we've both come from E46s, both bought our cars at 20 and finally insured them at 21 in November with the same insurance group and are both sprint blue, I have a feeling we are going to get along well.

That is quite a coincidence :) I think I'll have to come along to the next meet you organise, seems I missed the last one.

Nice,

Though I bet its a pain now having to put the cats back on for the MOT. As of 1st Jan all cars fitted with a cat from factory must have it fitted at MOT otherwise it WILL fail

The next one is a drive to the Nurburgring and R8 factory on the 9-11th April if your interested, check the meets section. Whereabouts in the country are you located?

@rs4blacked: Yeah, that's something I asked Doug about and it is just a bolt off/bolt on job, to swap the downpipes. I only did the decat because the MOT is not due for almost a year, but I may switch to some 200 cell cats down the line too.

@Amar: That sounds very interesting, I'll have to see if I can come along to that. I'm just outside Birmingham, in Redditch.

Your only about half an hour from me then, I'm from Leamington Spa. I'm hoping to attend that trip too, so we can convoy down to the tunnel together.

Sounds like a plan. I'll check and will get my name down in the meets section if I can make it.
