Kudos of the RS badge will dilute even further

i dont understand why everyone is bumming this A1 ?
256PS .... even remap it to 300PS
its just S3 numbers .... but you can pick up an S3 for half the cost ?!? OK, its lighter but even if it did make it to the UK in limited numbers with a £30k price tag, I'd rather put my pennies into a RS 3 mapped pushing 410PS for a few £k more
There wont be an RS 1

How many of us said that about an RS3???
I see Audi attempting to fill every tiny niche market there is, so it would not surprise me if they do make an RS1.

How is the rs3 dissapointing? They are seriously rapid cars so what if they don't have flared arches boohoo. Remap LOBA hybrid turbo and exhaust you've got a 500hp car that would leave an rs4 for dead in all situations

I guess if you compare to what BMW have done with the M badge, it may well happen.
M1,M3, Z3M, Z4M, M5 and M6; the entire range bar the bigger machines - much like Audi.
How long till we see an RS7 and RS8!

Seriously rapid (as an RS should be) but with old school Audi ride and handling (rock solid ride, understeer and lack of real driver involvement - aprat from saying "Oh sh*t this thing is fast" - which Audi had got away from) - which IMHO makes the RS3 the biggest disappointment of 2011.

It's impossible for everyone to have driven every car - so that's a bit of a stupid (rhetorical?) question.
People whose opinion I respect enormously (i.e. it's their job to develop cars with great ride and handling) have driven the RS3 and are seriously underwhelmed, and also seriously disappointed how big a backward step Audi have taken with recent RS models. They've totally forgotten that great handling does NOT mean a rubbish ride is their professional opinion (based on over 50 years combined experience) - and since their knowledge is far great than mine (and I suspect yours) I trust and value their opinion over that of anyone else.

Snap - in an 8 year period I drove 100+ different cars including several prototypes (2 stroke Ford, twin turbo V8 supercar,...), and everything between a Fiesta and a Ferari - didn't own any of them or pay any of the costs of running them

I like the look of the A1 over the A3 (rs3)

I was disappointed that the RS looked too similar to the cooking models, for me the RS badge should be standout in appearances.
Tiff managed to drive the 1M around the track nearly 3 seconds faster than the understeering RS3, and he was driving a 'relatively' slower manual 1M.
The RS3 only comes in DSG, at least the 1M gives me a choice of manual, which is my preference
The TTRS is very similar and yet you can still get it in a manual - my choice would be a TTRS over an RS3 fort that reason alone

Hmm.. I have to say I've always had my suspicions about 5th Gear test times - like Top Gear lap times..
Auto Motor und Sport had the RS3 quicker in the dry and the wet than the 1M on a track - Horses for courses I guess.. But two different drivers in two different cars is cobblers as a test methinks...
