Just a thought! is this a good mod for everyday driving? how much cabin noise under load do you get? if anyone has got some valid info on this product i would be gratefull.

Video clip, however the back bench is out so makes it a little louder

also vid at the ring, both taken on different videos, so noise levels are different

Did you read the link I sent about the GruppeM installation and heat shield?

No problems with everyday driving but you do need a remap to set up your MAF correctly. It doesnt really let you know its there if you are just driving smoothly around the city or open road but as soon as you put it under load it sounds fantastic.
A good example: I took my friend who had never been in my car for a spin and I was taking the piss a bit and not really putting my foot down but acting like I was. He said that my milltek sounded great when I had my foot 'down' but when I really put it down he just said 'Holy SH!T...the sound !' That was primarily down to the GruppeM.
If you have the opportunity to get one do it, you wont regret it.

So are the benefits just the sound (not complaining about that)?

Yes and better throttle response, in fact perfect throttle response.
Warm air getting into the induction system is the biggest factor, the MAF senses this and retards the timing, anything from 20bhp can be lost. I took massive measures to preserve the cold air. So had fitted a CAF, heat shield and heat wrap for the system, and it cured about 70% of the warm air.

Sonny makes a good point, a CAF is a must with this, its one of my next mods as soon as my car is out of warranty. There is a marginal increase in torque too.

yes very interesting, looks a neat job too! dont like the sound of losing power over noise, if you know what i mean! very helpfull.

do you think a shield under the MAF body and oem intake tube would make any effect on readings, i was thinking about fitting one as its above the exhaust manifold, possibly wrap it like a turbo wrap?

Did you read the thread I did Rick about the heat management for the GruppeM?
