Hello all, my first thread.

I’m looking to have a custom re-map as I have Milltek Sport Cats (only had a warning light on once in nearly a year?), could anyone recommend on what to have done?

The only thing I definitely want is to have the torque limiter removed from the first three gears.

Linear throttle, pros and cons?

Anything else?

Also, I did a power run at Motoscope back in August, the figures seem to be quite good comparing to others I have read on here (423.7 & 420.3 bhp). What sort of power increase would I expect after re-map?

I prefer a very aggressive sport mode throttle mapping as linear is just not sensitive enough for decent n fast heel n toe.
Makes the miltek sound divine with a short sharp rev match blip.

Mine has non res valved, ported/polished/deflapped manifold and mrc air filter and got a 456.

MRC or DMS are the most reputable mappers but not near here although I understand from Glenn that Revolution are going to do / doing remaps and can remove the throttle limiters in the first three gears.

Just a question. Why does Run 1 show less power at wheels but more power at engine than Run 2?? Probably a logical answer. Not having a pop at you but just something I saw.

What is the price range for Re-mapping?

I was thinking of take it down to MRC, but as you've said,it a bit far. I've been speaking to Glen at Revolution, they are working on throttle limiter removal.

I have had the Revo flash done... and IMO, remapping on a normally aspirated car is a waste of time and money, not to mention it gives Audi and out on almost any warranty work... I would NOT do this again... If it were turbo'd, that would be a different thing all together...

I think your money is better spent on an exhaust (Milltek) and some good rubber (RE11 in 275)


My comments might upset many of the "tuners", as this is free money for them once the "tune" is developed...

I notice that too, but have no idea how dynamometer works. I'm sure someone on there can explain.

I'm not totally convinced on the accuracy of dynamometers. My car made maximum of 423.7 bhp with just K&N filter, Milltek exhaust and cats, where as others are producing not much more with ported/polished/deflapped manifold and cold air feed. I might take it to another dyno to see if there is any difference.

That's one reason I haven't done it since replacing the exhausts and cats last year. I've been told and read on here that the replacement cats require a re-map to stop throwing warning light (only happened once last winter) and to make the most of it. So, if I go for the re-map, I would like to know what other members have done on their cars and what's their opinions.

For comparison on the same dyno mine made 407 bhp and 315 ft.lbs. (IIRC on torque) with non-res cat back, BMC filter and ported polish manifold vs. 394bhp and 312 ft.lbs. on non-res catback and BMC filter with OEM manifold.

I reckon with a decoke I could temporarily achieve the same numbers as you so your cats do work but not that well and would work better with a remap. IIRC caldy with 200 cell cats and s/s exhaust, remap and OEM filter and OEM manifold made marginally more BHP but more torque than you did on the same dyno.

Mine went to DMS & i can't rate them highly enough.

Had a few cars assisted by them & they're 250 miles away from me:)

Was that Dyno before and after, or just map?

I know dynos are hit and miss, but a remap specific to the car would be the best option?

I thought Milltek exhausts and sport cats don't really increase power (just better sound) on it's own, that's why a re-map is recommended to maximise the better exhaust gas flow.

Consider that you have a modified exhaust, my car produce about 30 bhp and 15 lbft more that yours (before ported polish manifold). That means the Milltek is a worthwhile modification. Hopefully a re-map will increase it further. Once I have the re-map done, I'll take it for another power run on the same dyno.

I also consided de-coke ported polish manifold, but it looks as though I don't really need it done just yet.

cat back marginal, maybe a few bhp, but sports cats yes. You are effectively getting rid of two and then halving the density of those that you have left by using 200cell cats so airflow is always going to be better giving you more power.

The point I was attempting to raise is that a simple port polish, and decoke potentially have the same effect as sports cats but is a VSA compliant modification.

All entitiled to opinions which is a good thing BUT: 'Flash' is the word. A generic flash not built around the characteristics of your car? Agreed a complete waste of time & money. I mean, a stock car & a modded car with the same map? WRONG! Revo maps run lean (in my experience) and can cause engine problems long term, particularly if you track it.....I've been there.

I've had remapped Audi's since 2004 ( 2 of them turbo's) and no dealer has ever refused warranty work for me.

Clearly you will get more oomph from a turbo'd car but alas, we don't have one but why not get as good as we can afford (Danny).

Sound enhancement over performance increase......is there a debate? Both together is another matter.
