Beware of the budget Chinese brands, they come out really bad in all the tests especially wet stopping distances, which is the last thing you need in the winter when the roads are going to be wetter.

Why not stick with the well known, but still cheaper than the big names like Michelin or Goodyear, Vredestein Sessantas?

Take a look at the mags online one of them did a winter tyre test that had all the info. Can't remember whether it was Car or EVO.

They rated the Contis first but not sure you can get them in RS4 standard size. I'd go for the Vreds instead. Try Camskill Tyres online they seem pretty good when I was looking last year.
Thought for the moment...

...if some mindless ASBO keys your car as happened to my previous S4 then stay positive...they may have had a moments glory in front of their mates but they only did it because they're jealous of you being able to drive it every day! Who drives wins!

Did you guys mean Vredestein Wintracs? Sessantas aren't a winter tyre.

You could try Barums - very deep tread pattern which I have gone for at the rear as I got sick of being stuck in the snow in Kent last year!
Phantom Black 06 (current), Evo 8 sold, Evo 6 sold, Escort Cosworth sold, Sierra Cosworth (nearly killed me several times) sold, RS Turbo sold
NO I'M NOT FROM ESSEX

Wintracs are Vred's winter tyre but TBH I have run Sessantas for the last two winters with no issues and even went out rescuing other cars in 8+ inches of snow with them. The fact that the tread pattern is like a tractor tyre is perfect for gripping through snow

I'm a forum newbie and also technically a latebie as I traded my RS4 last March for an over-priced beetle!

Anyway, I was running my Audi over in Germany and so had to put it on winter tyres last year, a set of pirelli w240 sottozero 2 (255/35 R19 XL 96V TL). Reckon I did about 1000 miles on them and they still have 7-8mm of good tread with even wear, no kerbing etc. They're gathering dust in my garage at the moment (the beetle dealer wasn't interested), so I'm happy for them to go to a good home for a modest price?

I knew what you meant Timster but Dave and wellzie mentioned Sessanta's because a few forum members, myself included have run Sessanta's in the winter with no issues so you could in theory take your choice between their summer, winter or their all weather Quatrac(?) tyre.

BTW are you not receiving PM's anymore or are you trying to gazump me..... :beerchug:
