Moving on...

So I picked up a new Alpine White M3 Coupe today - still have the RS for one more day, both on the drive at the moment. Be a little sad to see the RS go but blame SteveC and his lease deals on M3s - too good to pass up, i.e brand new M3 with warranty vs 4.5 year old RS with warranty expiring, new discs probably due this year etc. so the deal was done.

Like SteveC will post more impressions after a week or so but have driven 400 miles so far, still running the car in up to its 1200 mile running in service.

Initial thoughts - much more advanced inside, technology wise (sat nav, ipod integration, phone integration, iDrive etc), but of course its brand new car against the RS at 4 years old. Sounds superb but a different v8 sound - not as bassy as the RS. RS looks dated in comparison (both on drive) but still a great car that will be missed.

I have the DCT gearbox on M3 which so far I think is amazing - it would go well on the RS4 too.

Cheers!!!

Can't blame you, Steve's deal was a bargain.

Enjoy.

Fair one mate, you will have to take one last pic of them both together (if you still have it).

I found myself pondering the same move the other day as I could do with the capital out of the RS4 for a house rebuild I'm doing, and the rs4 sits at home most of the time. But I now live in the sticks and going to rwd heading into winter could render that particular car even less driven than the rs4,remind us all of the deal though, wasn't it 6k a year approx? What spec interior have you gone for as they've all looked bland that I've seen so far, they do a pale light mettalic blue colour anyone know its name? Seen one as a safety car at cadwell and it was the only time I thought 'that looks well'

Morning all!

Lengster - the price has come down since I did the switch. Now advertised at £470 pcm + VAT (£3k deposit). Agree that the interior is a bit bland.

Light blue could be Monte Carlo: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=400360 or Laguna Seca: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=489777.
Persoanlly I prefer Estoril but don't think you can get the latest M3 in that colour.

Dunc - looking forward to hearing your thoughts. +1 for pics!

Nice looking motor, never a fan of white, but it looks super on the M3 with carbon roof.
First thing I would do it powercoat the wheels black!

Agree, the interiors dont show well in photos but its still a very nice place to be sitting - especially when the little robot arms passes you the seat belt :) The iDrive is perfect.

I would say, if they were both brand new - just be a choice based on 4wd vs RWD or coupe vs saloon (or BMW vs Audi loyalties).

Plus for the RS is that with bucket seats (shame about the crap wear - ruins them), flat bottomed wheel and engine bay which looks amazing its more dramatic than the M3 (engine bay is covered in plastic on the M3).

Ride is better on the M3 but I have SS+ on the RS.

I think the M3 will be a bit quicker but dont shoot me on that - also M3 defintiely feels different to drive than the RS - its going to be a new learning experience but so far I am very happy with it, looks, noise and drive - carbon roof is cool agaisnt white and the insane bulge in the bonnet is real race car.

A link to the website please guys? This could work for me but need to look at it in finer detail and crunch the numbers, two years lease at 6k per annum is way more then the rs4 will depreciate but it will free up its equity which will help massively in the coming months with my house build
