Bolster question

Post by Brisel » Sun Jul 31, 2011 10:48 pm

I went to Salisbury Audi today to look at a B7 Avant. No sales guys were around so I wandered into the compound and had a sniff around. The car wasn't even locked!

I sat in the seat and my backside wouldn't fit in the seat - Are the bolsters adjustable or were they just inflated? Do they even stay inflated with the engine off?

If that's how they are meant to be then that rules out a B7 for me! Is there any other option for a large hipped bloke like me?

I'm 6'1" with a 36 inch waist & weigh 15 stone so whilst I'm not skinny I'm not exactly obese either.

Anyone know anything about this car? No photos on the page I'm afraid.

If bucket seats are no use, you might need to source a car with the optional Recaro's.

The bolsters are activated when the Sports button is pressed. When the engine is off, the "S" button will be off and only activated when pressed.

Thanks for the replies.

I'll take it for a test drive & see how comfortable it is.

From a search on this subject, it would seem that I could disable the bolsters from the DIS. Is this correct? Do the bolsters on the passenger side inflate/deflate too?

I like the look of the Recaros - how much would it be to retro-fit them? Since I suspect that they are full of airbags & electrics it won't be cheap...

yes - you can disable seat inflation when S is pressed (mine is - you get bored of it very quickly).
Passenger seat is air inflated but not linked to the s button.

Cheapest option would be to find somebody who wants to swap.

There are also two little switches on the side of the seats that adjust the bolsters, put them in a position your comfortable with when normal driving, then when you hit the sport button they tighten up, if you dont like this feature you can turn it of using the DIS.

Im 5ft 8, 36 inch waist and weight 14 1/2 stone - so quite similar - the seats are fine for me, took a few drives to get used to them from my old S4 (which has the comfort recoro seat option, but now prefer the RS4 buckets, just takes a bit of a differnt way to get in and out of the car to avoid wearing teh bolster to much.

Apologies for the link not working.

Salisbury Audi have withdrawn it from the website. Maybe it hasn't been cleaned up yet or it has already been bagged by someone else.

I'll keep you posted. :sekret:

Ah.

It did need a set of front discs, so I don't think it had been driven gently. Alloys were corroded too.
