Haha! Is that the reason we took the route we did?!

I find it works quite well if you just focus on the small screen next to the speedo - I rarely look at the main screen. But yes, still not as good as a £100 TomTom.

Show me ANY sat nav that:
1) chooses sensible routes
2) doesn't keep telling you to make a U-turn when you've taken a route that you know is better
3) doesn't route you onto roads that were closed years ago

IMHO they are ALL rubbish, but better than trying to read a map AND drive at the same time.

Yep you do have a point there.

The Nav took us on the M18. We should have got our heads together at South Mimms and gone firm on a route lol.

Tims Nav started to send him back to York after we had drive past it on the A1!

Never had a problem with it.On the way to the meet it re-routed me due to congestion on the A64,ended up doing a nice detour round the backroads.

My satnav didn't think the traffic was going to be a problem. I hit traffic on the way back and took my own detour, only to find myself behind the same cars I had hit the jam with. Result was that I kept moving but did not gain any time.

Routes we took according to my Pogo Alert.
The Sonny Sh*t Route (sorry I mean the Audi Route)
Versus our new & improved ~ follow our common sense route... on the way home.
Huge saving in time.

LOL

But...half way on the M18 the TMC redirected us towards York, originally we was going to be driving through Goole.

I'll fight for the corner of the RNS-E as we went across a big chunk of Europe last year and on the Cannonball and it didn't put a foot wrong. Just seems to be the UK mine has occassional problems with but i can count that on three fingers in 7 years of Audi ownership with RNS-E. My only gripe is that sometimes it doesn't refresh quickly enough here in the UK but on the Autobahn it does. Weird eh?

That and programming it in underground car parks sends it nuts.

Well it's not just Audi - took the wife's Scooby into Manchester city centre last week and it was totally useless. Kept trying to send me into dead ends and no entry's. Had to resort to old-fashioned map reading and asking. Experience obviously helped me a bit on the drive down to Malton - I was the only one who made the right turn in Sproxton whilst the rest buggered off to Pickering, despite having discussed the route 30 minutes before! Must be an age thing................
