New B7 - Not happy!

Post by pekingprawn » Fri Jul 22, 2011 3:02 pm

Purchased my 2007 Audi RS4 Saloon in Daytona Grey a few weeks back from Huddersfield Audi (Sytner) Approved Used and it arrived with me in Aberdeen last Thursday.

First off I was a bit disappointed it was driven rather than delivered on flatbed, but you cant have it all I guess :)

Anyway, i inspected the car as best as I could the day it arrived, found a few flaws and went back to work. Had a good chance to inspect this weekend and found a few shockers! -

Alu look trim is a mess

Chunk out of window trim

Broken wing mirror casing

Scratch on bootlid

Deep scratches on drivers door (repaired by touch up pen too!!!!)

Paint bubbling on rear door!!!

Door handle scratch, repaired by touch up pen(!!!), despite the pre-sales workshop sheet saying two door handles were replaced!!

I must admit, despite these flaws, the rest of the car is immaculate!

Comments would be appreciated, but Huddersfield Audi seem very embarrassed and are willing to do whatever it takes to put it right. My only concerns are:

Are they competent at fixing this type of thing? Any prior experiences on here?

Will they do anything to compensate me?

They're going to replace the alu trim, while they are at it I'm requesting the apply the black optic pack FOC and retrofit me some Bluetooth, but I wonder what else I'm justified in requesting?

All comments welcome!

Wow that is shocking, especially the wing mirror, why would they expect you to accept that.
The alu surrounds do seem to polish up,and even where they have touched up is a very amatuerish job.

I would defo kick off,you purchased from audi so should expect better

They reckon the wing mirror happened when the car was driven up, I said wow surely the driver would have felt that! Anyway, they seem very eager to make it right!

I'm wanting a free Bluetooth retrofit and black optic pack thrown in to make up for it!

Sounds like they are happyto put it right so you cant ask for much more than that.

Let us know how you get on, I woudl be particularly interested in how you get on with yoru windscreen surreound as mine has a minor scrape and I wouldnt mind replacing it if possible.

The paint bubble on the rear door would worry me most.... All the others just looks like poor care. I do remember seeing a few second hand Audi's even at the main dealer in Aberdeen and the condition does not match the inflated price tag, so i suppose it's still a gamble with all the others too....
Best of luck but I'll keep an eye out for a Saloon with a very shiney new drivers mirror then! :-)

Send it back and get your money back, there are plenty more decent cars out there.

These cars do come with a 12 year body work warranty. So in the event of the panels corroding/bubbling then this "should" be covered.

Although Im sure there are plenty more out there, it took me long enough to find one with this spec! Plus, other than the issues above it's immaculate inside and out, so I'll be happy if they resolve everything to a high standard.

They are replacing the alu trim so i dont see why they cant just put the black optics in there? No extra cost to them, plus it keeps me happy. Bluetooth would satisfy me too and would help smooth the inconvenience over. dont ask, dont get and all that!

Sonny – do you know exactly what this covers as I have the Titanium wheels as a option and the paint is coming off ! Audi have just told me its only covered under a three year paint warranty and I am a month outside it !

Its only the body work. Not trim to include wheels, however it has been known for individuals to get parts covered by friendly dealers. If I was you I would approach your local dealer and ask, they might even go 50/50 with you under there Good will gesture.

It's Common for our wheels to be refurbished in the workshop by mobile fitters, the work is not the best and tends to flake. High pressure power washers dont help either.

I find those images a little depressing but the main dealers are struggling and cutting corners.

My worry would be what else are you going to find when you live with it?
What else have they bodged up?

+1

although Audi dealers aren't struggling !!

Why people pay such inflated premiums without batting an eye lid I find so difficult to understand

Mate, have a rethink. You WILL find another one in better nick without a doubt, just be patient (easier said than done I know). You say other then those issues (which are all major in my book) it's immaculate when clearly it isn't. Did you see it before purchasing?

I know you've got your RS and you've fallen for it but as others have said - what else could be poor? If they're willing to sell that with such visible flaws who knows what could be wrong with it mechanically?

Think of it like a woman - beer goggles in a nighclub and she looks the nuts - cold light of day and sober, she looks a mutt!

Just be cautious and very particular. Buying one of these should result in lust-like feelings, not instant disappointment.

Can I ask how much you paid?

Good luck mate.
