Picked up my rs4 avant last night - will post some pick soon.
Plan on getting it up to mrc soon for the Millie and a few other bit.
In the meantime want to do the 3k to 8k test - what exactly is this and what is best way to do it ? Presume you dont just hold it at 3k in 3rd and floor it to 8k ?
Thanks

Welcome to RS4 ownership.
Bets way to do it is on.
even ground, ECP and A/C off. Note laden weight (Fuel level etc) Also note ambient temp. Check Tyre pressure prior and fuel type prior.
start accelerate hard at 2k rmp, start timer at 3k, finish on 8k.
Best if your the only one in the car. Also you will pick up speed quickly so make sure you have enough runway to do it
Have fun.

...you'll also be doing 100 mph at top end of 3rd so be careful!
You'll need to do some practice using the laptimer as trying to press a button on wheel when doing 100mph can be interesting.
I do it the scientific way with
VCDS data logs which as well as being more accurate is a lot safer.
For a truely scientific method, you need to it in both directions on same stretch of road and average the results.

one small comment
don't mash the pedal, start at 2000 and depress gradually until 100% at 2500
you will be surpised how fat the car gets to ~100...find a safe place to do it
and play with the timer to know its function before you attempt this
