Looking at RS4 tomorrow - anyone know it

Going to have a look at a 2007 RS4 tomorrow at Tonbridge Audi - reg: LX07 VUT.
Black, Avant, March 07, 37,000 miles. up for £31,400
Just done a vehicle check on the car and report has shown up Stolen / Recovered by Insurance company in October 2010. 1 previous owner.
Does anyone know this car ? should i be concerned that it was stolen / recovered ? presume that as only 1 regged keeper the car was given back to the original owner rather than insurance company taking ownership and selling on.
Price i feel is on the top end of the market - this may be a good reason to knock the price down.
In addition does anyone know if the Audi Warranty covers brake discs within a certain milage ?
Thanks for your help.

who did you do the car check with? it doesnt sound correct
Audi Approved has to be HPI clear and they all come with a HPI cert, so unless the Used car buyer has made a MASSIVE balls up, then I recon your search is wrong
IF, in the unlikely case it is correct ... there is only ONE simple answer
= DO NOT BUY IT

Agreed, Audi garage wouldnt sell it if it had been stolen/recovered nor would they have had it as part ex, and certainly wouldnt sell it as an" approved" Audi, have you ask them about it?

Run,
Run while you still can.
Seriously it sounds very odd, as moto said speak to the dealer before you go and look at it.

As above, avoid, just not worth it.
You are not seriously running this alongside your gorgeous Noggy B6 S4 AmD? You mentalist!!!

I did the check via my car check app on the iphone.
have spoken to Audi who have said that it doesnt show up on their HPI check, but he advised they are going to try to contact the previous owner.
About to run another car check - any recommendations (rather not use HPI as Audi already have that)
My Car Check flagged it as "Registration recorded as stolen recovered by insurance provider on 25th Oct 2010"
Yes i will be running the RS4 alongside my noggy B6 S4. I just cant bring myself to sell it. it may be that in time i drive drive S4 less and always end up in the RS4 so the S4 will be sold.

Maybe a private plate was put on the car which has some history and the car you're looking to buy (on it's oroginal plates) for all intents and purposes is clean.
I had a similar case with my car.

I'd kind of hoped you'd sell the S4 earlier so I could have bought it! Really wanted a Nogaro with the matching alcantara. Had mine almost a year now, not got the Milltek downpipes but the cat back is enough for me, always the option to swap from resonated to non-res'

The car looks okay...(discs/tyres look good, seat bolter okyish), some stone chips on the front bumber/bonnet - top dollar price but IMHO not a top dollar car.
Minor point - description says Carbon Fibre inlays, but as you can see, they are Matt Aluminium.

HPI is reliable so use it, if it says there is a problem it will be usually be true.
As stated above, a cherished reg could have a marker against it that doesn't relate to the car it's currently on, the HPI trade system doesn't make it clear that this doesn't relate to the car you are looking at.

Heard back from Tonbridge Audi this evening. The car is stolen / recovered - apparently only diven 20 miles then parked up, police tracked it and nabbed the bad guys when they came back for it, car was only gone for 48 hours which included the forensic time.
That is now Audi's storey - not so sure i believe it - the report says logged by insurance company, not so sure someone would call their insurance company to make a claim same day car was stolen (i could be wrong).
Anyway the voice message from audi was obviously trying to make out it wasnt a big issue (they would as they part ex'ed it without knowing) trying to keep the price up. In my mind i either walk away or 6K min has got to come off the price.
Just goes to show a £19.99 HPI check didnt pick up what a £2.99 my car check did.
