I recently managed to put together probably the first Scottish RS4 run/meet recently and think that if we applied the same approach to a national gathering it would at least be something of a start. Basically, as usual with these sort of things, many folk were talking about it (where can we meet/ when can we meet/ who will organise etc etc) but no-one really took it on,- so I did! No big deal, it just needed someone to do it. The biggest stumbling block was deciding on a date that would suit everyone, so my approach was simply to put up a date and venue and stick to it, if you can make it fine, if not, unfortunate, but tough!
However, a bigger dilemma for a National gathering may possibly be choosing a suitably central location, and the fairest way to do that I think, would be to (obviously)have it in the middle of the country. Initial suggestion would be around York/Harrogate area. This would be 200 miles from Aberdeen and 200 miles from London. I know that some folk will be further north than that and many more will be further west/south than that but to me that seems fair and would surely cover the vast majority of members? When? Let's say the 3rd or 4th Sunday in July as a starter though that may be a wee bit soon. I’m open to suggestions on a venue......
What do you all think? If there is much interest /response to this thread I will start a separate thread and a proper list and get the ball rolling. Please don’t just read this and think about it, POST A REPLY so I/we can see if there is any real desire for this to happen.
