Post by FlyRS6 » Sun May 22, 2011 5:47 pm

Can anyone recommend their current insurers as mine have turned into a comedy club. I am 47 with an sp30 from oct 2006 and sp50 from nov 2007 3 points both times. No claims for 15 years but everyon i call quote £1500. I live in Warrington cheshire and have been told some brokers wont touch the WA postcode

I need business insuraance as I use the car once a week for work purposes, I also protect my no claims. Car parked on drive overnight with tracker activated

I am with RSA eChoice and it's by far the lowest for me (live in SW10)
I pay around £750 which is REALLY good for central london....
only (major) problem is that they will NOT allow for ANY modification whatsoever....

+3 for Admiral: I'll be switching to them as and when MoreThan RSA sort out my NCB and answer my compliant letter about services standards. I can't believe however the FSA give then 6 week to respond! I end up losing money every day because of this.

Slightly OT, but if we're forced by law to have insurance, then the insurance companies should be forced by law to cover us, no matter where we live.
Very unfair to rule out certain postcodes.

LVE are worth a go as they will like your age (no dis!)

Also the smaller independent brokers are well worth a go as some have specialist schemes and will actually discuss your "risk" properly and intelligently with insurers to give you a reasonable premium. As opposed to just entering your details into a pc for it to calculate your premium using some kind of quantum algorithm!?!

Keith Michaels and A-Plan spring to mind along with Adrian flux.

Hope thats helps! Good luck.
ps - your occupation + biz use could be throwing up a loading to the premium...maybe worth checking as there maybe be a better description for your occupation that doesn't create a load. (By no means am I saying to tell porkys)

43 Years Old, SP 30 in 2008 and also with a WA postcode, I got quoted £780 by More Than to renew, phoned and told them I wasn't going to take it as it was over £200 up on last year, they asked what the best offer I'd had was and after two pushes and a "speak to my manager", they did £568, beating the best I could get from confused.com

Good luck
