Can someone tell me the best thing for the external metal trims on the windows etc, i don't want to use the wrong product and damage them

Any other ideas? If we're talking about the matt chrome RS strips I've tried WD40 and Autosol Liquid Chrome Cleaner which I also saw recommended and I just can't get rid of what looks like old wax spots on the strips around the window and ingrained dirty around the bottom of the boot and just under the bonnet?

it's a chemical cleaner, shines and protects

Aren't these plastic on the window surround and boot??

the grill is, not sure about the window/trunk lip
are the mirrors metal?

either way they are painted, and should be treated as a painted surface...no harsh chemicals, abrasives, polish, etc.
basically clean and wax...

I do not think you will ever remove those spots once they are there it is like a water stain on a piece of furniture.

I've never let mine get too bad, and the piece that gets them the most (the trunk lip) is easily cleaned up with the Klasse

it gets the usually spotting, and it does look like water spots, but applying the Klasse, rubbing it in, letting it sit for a minute, then wiping with a clean rag brings it back to almost new...

Just make sure you dont use one of those metal polish pastes, as they are abrasive and will scratch ali coating. Some owners have actually polish the Ali off and revealed the shiny metal underneath.

The window surrounds is metal.

Found out by mistake today. Autoglym super resin polish. Took off all the milky top layer and left it as new. And has anyone not got SRP?

just looked at their website, pretty much the same stuff as Klasse All in One
